The game as a catchy 8-bit chiptune soundtrack which you can listen to while playing on one of the 280 unique holes.

Hearthstone

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is an online collectible card game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. The game itself is free-to-play and unlike many other games in this category you really can get away with not paying a single cent while still enjoying the game. The popularity of Hearthstone is huge – in early May of 2015, there were more than 30 million registered accounts. One of the reasons why this game is so popular is the learning curve. In minutes, you can be strategizing and plotting your next move.

The Android version of Hearthstone has some problems including performance issues and crashes. You should have a higher end tablet with sufficient free storage space to fully enjoy this game.

Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans is a popular Android game created by Supercell. It has been available on the Google Play Store since 8 October 2013. It is a strategy game where players can construct and expand one’s village, unlock successively more powerful warriors and defenses, raid and pillage resources from other villages, create and join Clans and much more. The game itself is Free-to-Play, but you can purchase additional currency for real money. The good news is that all features are open even to players who choose not to spend any money.

To this date, the game has been downloaded almost 15 million times. Such popularity is hardly accidental and since the game costs no money, I would suggest you to head to Play Store and try it out for yourself.

Spirit Lords

Spirit Lords is a multiplayer action RPG from Kabam. It introduces an original world where the spirits of the dead are the key to survival for the human race. Your role is to investigate and explore the ruins and mythology of the old Empire in order to become the first Spirit Lord and thus saving the world.

The game features a 4-player co-op multiplayer and a way to quickly find a party. Just like Diablo or Torchlight, Spirit Lords main activity is monster slaying and picking up a shiny new gear. The gear will become handy as you progress through increasingly challenging dungeons, each with its own set of monsters and surprises. Sadly, the game isn’t without its annoyances. There is an energy system that limits your gameplay time to about 30 minutes. Despite this, the game can be a great fun and is worth checking out.

Hero Forge

Hero Forge is a fantasy RPG aimed at younger players. The battles are won by matching blocks and casting spells. You can play as one of three unique classes (Human Paladin, Orc Berserker, Elf Mage) with an extensive option to customize your characters with weapons, armor, and more. The game supports multiplayer over Android Beam and PvP battles.

Vainglory

Vainglory is a MOBA by Super Evil Megacorp for iOS and Android. The principle of the game is that two opposing teams of three players fight to destroy the enemy base by controlling the path between the bases, which is lined by turrets and guarded by enemy minions. The game expertly uses in-game tutorials to easily familiarize you with game mechanics. In comparison to League of Legends or Dota 2, Vainglory doesn’t give you a huge number of characters to choose from. There is a much smaller number of somewhat unoriginal characters from which a handful is selected in each rotation. Players who don’t spend cash on the game are limited to choose only from this selection while paying players can choose any character they want.

Vainglory is not yet released on Play Store and you have to join their beta program. Joining is not a big deal. All you have to do is simply request access in the community that supports your device and wait for approval into beta. If you are interested, head over to Vainglory Forums, find appropriate G+ community page for your device and apply.

The official launch of Android version is expected in the second half of 2015.

This is the end of part 1 of our list of the best free online mobile games. Stay tuned tomorrow for the second part.
