HTC has announced their new Desire 510 mid-range smartphone. If you read no further, know that HTC is touting the Desire 510 as their most affordable LTE enabled smartphone to date.

While HTC is promoting the Desire 510 as a phone that does everything you need, just not at flagship prices, it is great to see specs like LTE connectivity and the microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB cards. The word “affordable” leads to no surprises in the 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 5MP camera and 4.7-inch display rocking 854×480, FWVGA resolution.

Rounding out the specs, you’ll find the 64-bit capable 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410, HTC Blinkfeed on top of the latest HTC Sense with Android 4.4 KitKat and typical sensors and antenna like GLONASS GPS, accelerometer, WiFi and more. The 2100mAh removable battery should get you through 17 hours talk time and more. We’ve got all the specs with the press release below.

The Desire 510 will launch with two colors, Terra White and Meridian Grey, built of a polycarbonate chassis and will run a Dot View case as well. We’ll leave it to you to decide if this device can suit your needs, but we can’t deny that it is an appropriate entry into the Desire line as an update to the Desire 500, but not as powerful as the Desire 610.

For those still with me, HTC has not yet released a price tag or launch dates, but say the phone is destined for widespread availability throughout Europe and Asia, and on a selection of carriers in the US. This could be a huge advantage over competitor LG, who has two similarly equipped devices, the L Fino and L Bello, that will not be headed for the US at launch.

Saving their flagship device launches for early in the year, how are you liking all of the budget-mid range devices launching now and into IFA next week?
