Earlier this week, the ASUS-branded ZenFone AR leaked out, previewing what would be the newest Google Tango- and Daydream VR-ready smartphone.
Now ASUS is ready to officially announce not only the ZenFone AR, but also the ZenFone 3 Zoom, both of which have a big focus on the cameras as well as their own unique twists. Both handsets will launch this year.
Breaking it down, the ZenFone AR boasts a 5.7-inch 2560×1440 AMOLED screen, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor under the hood and 8GB of RAM. It will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and will fully support Google’s Daydream VR platform.
The biggest feature for the ZenFone AR is the 23-megapxel camera on the back as well as depth sensing and motion tracking cameras. With all of these features together, the ZenFone AR makes it possible to enjoy augmented reality features through Google Tango.
ASUS says the ZenFone AR will launch sometime in the second quarter of 2017, but no pricing has been revealed just yet.
The other big new addition to the lineup is the ZenFone 3 Zoom, which boasts a dual camera system on the back. Both of the cameras have 12-megapixel resolutions, but one features a 25mm wide angle lens while the other 59mm lens that boasts 2.3x optical zoom. The camera system also offers phase detection autofocus, an upgraded laser focus system, and subject tracking autofocus.
The ZenFone 3 Zoom also boasts a 5000mAh battery, which ASUS says enables the phone can last more than 40 days on a single charge in standby mode. The ZenFone 3 Zoom also features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.
ASUS confirms the ZenFone 3 Zoom will launch in February of this year, but won’t say how much it will cost when it arrives.
