How far along are you? 33 weeks! But I am very sad to say that my beloved pregnancy blocks don’t allow for a 33 week photo – there was only one 3 on one of the blocks! So sad – so we had to improvise. Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that I enjoy even number weeks better than odd numbered ones. 32 weeks felt like more of a milestone with only 8 weeks left in the pregnancy – and 34 weeks sounds so much closer to the due date than 33. But here we are at week 33 with less than 7 weeks left to go!

How I’m feeling: I am starting to feel big. I look in the mirror at night before I go to bed and sometimes my belly surprises me – It still seems like it came out of nowhere even though it’s been around for a while now. Other than feeling larger, which I think is normal at this stage, I have been feeling pretty good overall and a little tired. I came home from Virginia a little worn out and am trying to rest up a bit this week as we have a busy few weeks ahead.

Total weight gain: Up 17 pounds from my last appointment. As of tomorrow I will be going to the OB every two weeks.

How big is baby? This week, according to my pregnancy iPhone apps, baby is a little over 4 pounds – about the size of a pineapple. Baby’s skeleton is hardening and his brain is now capable of controlling breathing, digestive functions and body temperature. Apparently, baby can now tell the different between day and night too – weird! His lungs are also almost completely ready for breathing on their own.

Maternity clothes: Still powering through with what I’ve got & I’ve been doing a pretty good job of making it work {if I do say so myself} – Lots of layers and lots of sweaters/hoodies that don’t button. Luckily it’s been pretty mild this week & hasn’t been as bitter cold as it was a few weeks ago so I can get away with it.

Sleep: Last week at home in Virginia I didn’t sleep very well – for no reason I got up every day so early. Like 4 & 5 am! No bueno. Since I’ve been back in Philly I’ve been trying to catch up on my sleep a little more – definitely going to bed earlier and sleeping in a little later, when I can. LOTS of bathroom breaks throughout the night though still.

Best moment this week: We got some awesome gifts at our first shower last week and it was amazing to come home and set up everything in the nursery. We have added a bookshelf and our glider & ottoman arrived last week so everything is really coming together. It’s nice to be able to say that if the baby came today {fingers crossed he stays cookin’ for a few more weeks!} his room would more or less be ready for him.

Movement: All the time. When I am not running around like a crazy person, he’s easy to feel. Apparently at this point in the pregnancy, the amniotic fluid level in my uterus has maxed out because the baby is getting so big – and the kicks and pokes can feel pretty sharp. Sometimes they completely take me by surprise and make me jump! As far as I can tell, baby is also still horizontal in my belly – I can feel him laying across me – so I am waiting for him to flip soon!

Food cravings: Seriously, I will eat ALL.THE.CHEERIOS. I am a bottomless pit for them. Original box, please. Also, someone needs to take the Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s away from me.

Food aversions: Cold meats. I know I can’t have deli meats but even leftover, cold turkey or ham turns my tummy.

side note – not my belly

What I Miss: Being able to bend over easily.

What I’m looking forward to: Bending over easily again {see above} and putting the finishing touches on the nursery. All that’s really left to do in there, aside from clean the sheets & clothes for him – is to put the final touches on the walls. My mom is bringing up some prints for above the crib this weekend and I’m on the hunt this for some extra little touches to complete the room but it’s feeling really good overall.

Milestone: No big milestone this week. I am making the extra effort to make sure I am staying active as much as I can as long as I can. I also can’t wait for my NJ/PA shower this weekend – it’s going to be so fun to celebrate with my family and friends in the Philadelphia area!

Today for the start of #10DaysofGiveaways I wanted to share with you all about the wonders of the Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat. The wonderful folks at Britax generously sent me a car seat, in the color of my choosing {I picked Granite} after my announcement post. It was the first baby item we had in our house and it was so exciting to receive in the mail – sort of made everything more real!

Having a car seat checked off our list from the very beginning made me very happy {the nesting set in early!} – and the fact that Britax makes such a safe one made me even happier! The B-Safe offers side impact protection, a five point harness and a energy absorbing foam liner which absorbs and distributes crash forces. It’s scary to think about but it’s never to early to be concerned about the safety of your baby!

Other fun facts about the Britax B-Safe : It’s lightweight and travel friendly – I tested out a bunch of car seats in the store and you would be surprised as to how heavy they can be {without even a baby in them!} The B-Safe is rear facing and suitable for babies from 4 – 30 pounds, it also comes with a removable comfort pillow, shoulder pads and belly pads for additional comfort and support. Everything is also removable and machine washable, which is an added bonus!

I couldn’t be happier with the B-Safe – I love the color, I love the shape/look, I love the safety features – I can’t wait to put our little guy in it for the first time when we take him home from the hospital in just a few short weeks!

The lovely folks at Britax were to generous to send me a car seat for our little man on the way but they also offered up a Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat {in the fabric of your choosing – Black, Granite, Kiwi, Red, Sandstone} to one lucky And Her Little Dog Too reader {a $180 value!}. This is a great gift for anyone with a little one on the way!
