General history: Chassis 2840 was sold new on March 1926 to Mr. Scott of New South Wales, Australia through Bugatti’s Champs Elysees agent in Paris. Mr. Scott fitted wickerworth seats, steel mudguards, drove it to London and a year later shipped it to Sydney, Australia. Upon arrival he employed local coachbuilder H. G. Clothier of Petersham to build a 2-seat point-tailed roadster body with folding top and an occasional seat in the tail. Thereafter Mr. Scott and his son attended several local club events including hill-climbs and long-distance rallies. In 1976 it was sold it to Mr. Hunter who in turn sold it to Mr. Thomson of New South Wales.
In 1987 the car was imported to the UK by its first UK owner, Mr. P. Evans. In 1992 a total restoration was undertaken to be completed by Mr. Light and Tillion 7 years later to an outstanding, ‘as new’ condition (Davis Sewell, 2002 report).
In 2009 it was acquired by a private collector in Athens, Greece who decided to display it at the Hellenic Motor Museum.

Condition: “Remarkably original” in “outstanding condition”, David Sewell, 2002 report. Totally restored to show standards including new engine block, pistons, radiator, plating, hood sticks, covers, side screens, seat upholstery and leather-covered springs.

Inspection: The car is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. It is evident that there has been little to no use since completion of restoration. The paint appears evenly applied with even care in smaller and larger areas. There are some minor scratches on the engine hoods done by hooking the chrome latches on the engine panels and a couple of red paint stains on the engine block. The instrument panel is in an immaculate state. The seats carry an even patina with no sagging. The softop cloth is in very good condition. The engine fires right away and operates smoothly.

Maintenance: The car is checked, lubricated and started up once every month.
