Boat Magazine is an independent travel and culture publication that focuses on a different, inspiring city for each issue. From Sarajevo to Reykjavik to Lima, Boat Magazine shines a different kind of light on cities. The team move to a new city for each issue to set up studio and uncover the stories that locals have to tell.

Introduced by Stella Mozgawa the drummer for Warpaint, Issue 8 dives deep into the sprawling city of Los Angeles and tells its story from the view of artists, musicians, chefs, car-dwellers, poets, palm trees, and the local fashion scene. Take a look at the history of Los Angeles through a conversation with Kevin Starr, former State Librarian, and journey through Lynell George’s memories of its streets. Hang out in the here and now with musicians Moses Sumney, Superhumanoids, and White Sea and go on an illustrated journey from skatepark to skatepark. And we talk about what the future might hold during a conversation with Moby who’s famously made LA his new home. If you love LA, hate LA, or can’t make up your mind – this issue is for you.
