The coolest bathroom ever.

Traveling South for sandy beaches, warm breezes and tropical drinks, that’s what most of us here in the Pacific Northwest think about when it comes time for a vacation. If you are from the rest of the world you may want a beach vacation but you also want to come to BC to experience some of the amazing and spectacular nature that we take for granted. I grew up in Northern BC and I know for a fact how beautiful and amazing our province is. One city in the north I’ve never spent much time in, other than as a child with my parents, is Prince George. I was invited and challenged by the fine folks of Prince George to find out what “PG” is all about and discover my #TakeOnPG. I gladly accept this challenge and like any adventure it starts with where to stay. Where to stay in Prince George? For my home away from home there is only one choice the Ramada Prince George, it’s right in the heart of town and I heard they just finished a massive renovation. 30 Days Of Summer is headed north to Prince George, let the adventures begin.

Prince George is the unofficial “capital” of the North, home of the University of Northern BC and the place where the Nechako River meets up with the mighty Fraser River. All of this means that Prince George gets an awful lot of government and business travellers. Good news for vacationers and adventurers like you and me. A busy hotel is a well run hotel. As far as locations go the Ramada Prince George is in a prime spot at 444 George St, between 4th and 5th avenues. Very easy access off the highway if you are driving up from Vancouver like I did.

The lobby is quite large and even boasts a Starbucks which is super busy. You won’t have to wonder where to get your morning latte that’s for sure. After a quick check in it’s straight up my room. I’m not sure what to expect here because the last time I stayed overnight in Prince George I was 15 years old and we stayed at a hotel with water slides, this is not a water slide hotel. I open my door and wow, ultra modern design and decor is what I see.

The carpet is so soft and plush I immediately take off my shoes before I enter the room. The King bed looks heavenly, the entertainment console is fantastic with every plug in option you could ask for but the real wow factor of the room is the bathroom. Yes it has granite countertops, low flow toilet and a shower vs a bath but the wow is that the bathroom between the bedroom and bathroom is glass.

Now at first this may freak you out, you don’t want the person you are sharing the room with to see your every move in the bathroom, but don’t worry the bathroom is smart. Actually the glass is smart, just watch this.

Smart glass that knows when you are in the bathroom and want privacy from other eyes. Now you see me, now you don’t. I didn’t expect this from a hotel in Prince George, wow! Probably the coolest bathroom I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.

After a long day of driving up from Vancouver it was a nice treat to visit the 3rd floor where there is a pool, hot tub and a fitness room. I wasn’t the only one with the idea for a soak in the hot tub so unfortunately no photos as I wanted to respect their privacy. It’s a great gym though, perfect for the business traveller trying to stay fit while on the road.

A great nights sleep and upon wakening a view over downtown Prince George. Pretty good omen for the rest of my Prince George adventures.

Stay tuned over the next few posts and you’ll witness my Take On PG which may include rock climbing, hiking, flightseeing and even some culinary adventures. There is a lot to do in Prince George if you like getting out into nature. What’s your Take On PG so far?
