Draw! Draw! – Miss J, 1
Right then, readers. I’ve been scouring the web, hunting down the coolest, handiest, cutest and most practical back to school items on the web for weeks. I’ve been reviewing them, photographing them, and now YOU could win your own set of everything in this post for yourself!!! (except my hands, wedding ring, the table etc – you get the idea).
Whether your kids are small, big, state schooled or home taught, read on for the full roundup of educational/practical goodies or, if you’re just too impatient, scroll to the bottom to see how you can enter to win.
LEGO ruler, pencil case, sharpener and erasers
These pieces of LEGO stationery from Crafts4kids – comprising Lego Brick Pencil Case (£9.99), Lego Brick Rubbers (£2.99), Lego 30cm Ruler (£4.99) and Lego Head Pencil Sharpener (£2.99) – are just too cool for school…or maybe just cool enough. I can’t imagine many kids who wouldn’t love these.
As a huge LEGO fan, JD is delighted with his and they have pride of place on his desk – they’re great quality too, as you’d expect from LEGO.
Phoenix Trading Family Organiser
This bright and colourful family organiser pad (£4.80 for a 52 sheet pad) is backed with magnets so you can stick it to the fridge. With a column for each family member or area of your life, it’s a good-looking, practical way to keep your family week organised once the school term kicks off.
Punky Princess case, notepad and pen
This girly range of stationery would turn most teen girls’ heads, I reckon. The clutch purse, pad and pen (£4.99) have a touch of punky cool with bright pink and tartan panels, and the phrases “Born to be Royal”, “Born to be original” and “Excuse me!”. Ah, to be young again.
Organic Children shampoo and conditioner with louse deterring tea tree oil
Green People’s Organic Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner (£7.75 per 200ml bottle) is mild, gentle and non-irritating for sensitive scalps. It smells lovely and contains organic lavender, aloe vera and tea tree to naturally cleanse the hair, leaving it soft and smooth and deterring nasty nits. Perfect for little ones heading to school this September.
Tyrrell Katz London Journal and London Pencil Case
If you’re not already a fan of the gorgeous and distinctive Tyrrell Katz stationery ranges, this square, 60 plain sheet, magnetic clasp London Journal (£5.95) and laminated cotton London Pencil Case (£5.95) should turn your head. They’re just beautiful, aren’t they?
Remarkable recycled notepads, rulers, pens, coloured pencils and pencil case
I’m so impressed by the Remarkable range of eco-stationery, supplied by memoetc.co.uk. There’s a pricey but very cool pencil case that used to be a car tyre(!) (£32.59), a 5-pack of leather, wirebound, 100 page lined recycled leather notepads (£), a 5-pack of biodegradable 15cm rulers made from corn (£3.46), a 6-pack of colouring pencils made from recycled CD cases (£1.68) and a 10-pack of biodegradable biros made from corn on the cob (£5.40).
JD loves the novelty of the whole range and it’s helped facilitate conversations about waste and recycling. I love the quirky messages (“I used to be…a corn on the cob”) and think these could make a great talking point at school or homework club.
P’kolino Colorful Markers
This 12-pack of P’kolino Colorful Markers (£9.99) colourful markers, supplied by Loubilou, is a bit different in that the vivid colours are acheived with natural food dyes, meaning the pens are low odour and non-toxic. Perfect for art homework, I reckon.
Miffy Pencil Case
Who doesn’t love Miffy? Such an iconic, friendly character. This velcro fastening Miffy pencil case (£5.99) in retro colours and matching carry strap is so cute, I really want to keep it for myself by Miss J is already smitten.
Crayola Twistables Crayons
Great for younger artists, just learning to work with pens, these Crayola Twistables Crayons (£3.29 for a 12 pack) give the handling of a normal pen coupled with the glide of a crayon. When it wears down, just twist to reveal more. Miss J isn’t school age yet, but she loves them!
Aqua Ears Sponge Bob Square Pants and Ariel the Mermaid Ear Plugs
If your brood are into swimming, these Aqua Ears Ultra Soft Ear Plugs (£4.99 per 6 pack) should help keep their ears healthy as they contain ACTIValoe, a anti-microbial agent, which keeps the earplugs free from bacteria. The cute character designs should keep little ones engaged (my two seem to like them) and the super malleable material should mean they should fit even the tiniest ears.
Horrible Histories Awesome Art Set
This Horrible Histories Awesome Art Set (£14,99) from Galt Toys is based on the extremely popular Horrible Histories books and TV series, and is a very cool way to help kids think about history and get creative. There are over 100 pieces in the box, including stencils, markers, pads, postcards, paints, stickers and wiggly eyes. Any child receiving this should count themselves very lucky indeed – JD adores his!
Beatrix New York ‘Alexander Robot’ Little Kid Backpack
I just love the super cute character on this Beatrix New York ‘Alexander Robot’ Little Kid Backpack (£35), supplied by Cuckooland. The Beatrix New York designs are apparently taking the US by storm, and what’s great about this backpack is that it is super-light and compact (23cm x 30cm x 10cm), meaning it’s perfect for little ones starting school for the first time. Other designs include Katarina Frog, Juju Ladybird and Rory Lion.
Phew! So that’s the amazing range of back to school products I handpicked from across the internet…Now, here’s what to do to win ALL OF THEM for yourself…
