Wire transfer is method of electronic fund transfer. It allows you receive funds directly into your bank account. Google have introduced this mode of payment for AdSense users in India and some other countries recently.
As wire transfers are quick, simple and secured mode of transferring of funds, many AdSense users have upgraded to this new mode of payment in India. Later, they realized that they cannot revert back to previous payment mode if once upgraded. The idea behind the reverting back to older payment mode is that the wire transfer payments are started to fail.
There are number of reasons for the failure of the wire transfer payment in India or any other country. Let’s take tour of steps you have to be careful about when giving your bank details to the wire transfer.
Incorrect bank account number or bank codes
Entering the wrong bank account number might be a reason for the wire transfer failure. Check once again the account number if any extra or insufficient digits are entered.
IFSC code and SWIFT code come under bank codes in India. Remember that IFSC code and SWIFT code are not the same. Check the IFSC and SWIFT code you have entered in the details form.
FYI, IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies the bank and the branch participating in electronic fund settlement system in India.
SWIFT(Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) is a standard format of BIC(Business Identifier Code) approved by the ISO. SWIFT code in India generally contains 8 or 11 characters. The 8-digit code refers to the primary branch where as the 11-digit code refers to it’s sub branches. The character are classified into four set of streams for easy identification.
First 4 characters - bank code (only letters)
Next 2 characters - ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (only letters)
Next 2 characters - location code (letters and digits) (passive participant will have "1" in the second character)
Last 3 characters - branch code, optional ('XXX' for primary office) (letters and digits)
Bank is not located in the same country you entered in your AdSense account
When the country location of the bank is different from the location you have provided in the AdSense account, payment failure issue arises.
Provide the correct details of the bank location as the IFSC and SWIFT codes vary from branch to branch and location to location even though it is the same bank.
Your bank account is closed
Check if your bank account number you have already given in the AdSense payment settings is active or not. Think before you give account details in the payment settings form, you account might have been on hold or inactive due some reason.
In this case, consult the bank for the information of your inactive account or open a new account and enter the new account details in the AdSense settings.
Your bank account information was entered in localized characters
Make sure you set your keyboard input format to English only. Entering details in local regional formats cannot be understood by Google. Of course Google is smart but it don’t want to take risks with payment issues.
Your bank account number has hyphens
This is the silly reason why your wire transfer payments get failed. You bank may provide you account number with hyphens for easy recognition. The format can only be understood by that bank only, for its smooth operations. While entering the account number details, remove the hyphens as it cannot understand the format.
For e.g., Let your bank provided you an account number like this 123-456-789. While entering it in Google AdSense payments form, remove the hyphens and enter 123456789.
Your bank code changed as the result of a recent bank merger
You may not much aware of the news that the banks in India are looking to merge into one. As this to happen, the banks might be merging themselves, emerging into one single entity. So, in this process the notations and the bank formats can be changed. Enquire your bank once and know if any such changes in the bank codes due to merging was taken place.
Your bank account is not able to receive AdSense payments via international wire transfer
Not all banks are eligible to make or receive wire transfers. If you hold your account in such a bank and entered the details of the same, wire transfer might fail. As a solution, you should open an account in another bank that can handle wire transfers well.
If you see an error after you submit your bank account information, re-enter your bank information to make sure there wasn't a typo. You may also wish to contact your bank to confirm the exact details that you need to submit and try again.
