According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ghanaian Hollywood actor, Kofi Siriboe, the star of Ava DuVernay’s upcoming series ‘Queen Sugar’, is ready to go on a Girl Trip.

The actor has joined the cast of Universal’s film that will star Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish. The four women play friends who travel to New Orleans together for the annual Essence Festival where they rediscover their wild sides and rekindle their sisterhood.

Malcolm D. Lee (Barbershop: The Next Cut,The Best Man Holiday) is directing the film, which is produced by Will Packer via his Will Packer Productions banner. James F. Lopez, head of motion pictures for Will Packer Productions, and Preston Holmes will executive produce. Sara Scott will oversee for Universal.

Girl Trip, written by Kenya Barris (the creator of the hit comedy Black-ish) and Tracy Oliver, is set for release on July 21, 2017.

September will be a big month for rising star Siriboe. He plays the male lead in Queen Sugar, the  Louisiana-set drama starring Rutina Wesley and Dawn-Lyen Gardner. It will premiere on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on September 6. He also appears in the indie film Kicks that will hit theaters on September 9. His past credits include Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash and MTV’s comedy Awkward. He’s repped by Innovative Artists and JME Management.
