In order to continue their search for the next generation of talent, Cartoon Network has announced a brand-new initiative – Cartoon Network Imagination Studios – a specially-crafted, creative online platform to inspire, motivate and celebrate the wild imagination of children across Africa, available just in time for the holiday season.
Cartoon Network Imagination Studios provides a sneak-peek into the “real” Cartoon Network Studios, giving children insight into the making of their favourite cartoons, encouraging imaginative, unfiltered, creative thinking – providing the perfect constructive entertainment to combat holiday boredom this December.
The channel’s own artists and creators, such as Ben Bocquelet (The Amazing World of Gumball), Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe) and many more will accompany the children on their journey through the site, with tips and guidance on how to create their own characters, animate and tell stories. The children will then be able to enjoy the wide range of activities featured on the site, including drawing, colouring, storyboarding, music, special effects, voiceovers, movement and animation, thus inspiring and directing the wild trains of thought towards conceptualizing and creating their very own character creations.
But the fun doesn’t end when the holidays are over. Cartoon Network fans can look forward to an amazing Cartoon Network Imagination Studios competition, launching through this website for all of Africa in 2016. Countries across the continent will be offering children, aged six to 12 years, the opportunity to enter their very own original, unique creations – be it a new character drawing, storyboard or animation – to the Cartoon Network Imagination Studios Awards, and in return may win an opportunity to see their creations come to life as each winning project will be aired, live on screen, on televisions across Africa on Cartoon Network, DStv channel 301.

Beverly Bond, founder, CEO and executive producer of BLACK GIRLS ROCK!, joined the BET Experience Africa (#BETXAfrica), the ultimate urban music and lifestyle festival held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday 12 December 2015 to announce the launch of BLACK GIRLS ROCK! AFRICA TM (BGR! Africa).
Following the successful model of the BLACK GIRLS ROCK! platform in the United States, Bond will soon bring her dynamic visionary empowerment movement to the African continent. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! AFRICA is a multifaceted digital, media, and lifestyle platform that will continue to elevate Black women and girls in Africa and beyond. In addition, Beverly Bond participated in the Genius Talks series at BET Experience Africa along with media mogul President of Programming at BET Networks, Stephen Hill, Khanyi Dhlomo, NBA Vice President and Managing Director for Africa, Amadou Gallo Fall, and Kaya FM radio media strategist Greg Maloka. As #BETXAfrica’ s main stage DJ, Beverly Bond also opened the festival’s closing concert, which featured an all-star line-up of artists, including Mary J. TVC Entertainment launches on DStv
MultiChoice Africa is pleased to announce the addition of Television Continental (TVC) Entertainment, a local content channel based in Lagos, Nigeria, to the DStv platforms on 15 December 2015.
