“Who Is On Next?”

“Who Is On Next?”, the fashion scouting project dedicated to young fashion talent, developed and organized by Altaroma in collaboration with Vogue Italia, presents itself to participating industry members as a laboratory of ‘Made in Italy’ launched directly on international markets thanks to the collaboration and support of ICE – Rome Agency and its network of foreign offices.

Considered one of the most authoritative and creative platforms worldwide, “Who Is On Next?” confirms Rome’s role as a launch pad and incubator of new talent, the ideal setting for fresh, innovative, experimental creativity which has never lost sight of either its history or artisanal tradition.

Serving as a means of promotion for young, up-and-coming designers, participants are given a chance to match their strengths and showcase their creations before a prestigious jury of industry experts consisting of well-known names from the world of publishing, distribution and fashion. The panel of judges presiding over the July Altaroma event will include: Beppe Angiolini (Owner of Sugar), Carlo Capasa (President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana), Tiziana Cardini (Fashion Director of la Rinascente), Godfrey Deeny (Fashion Editor at Large of Le Figaro), Mario Dell’Oglio (President of Camera Italiana Buyer Moda), Miroslava Duma (Founder of BŰRO 24/7), Alex Fury (Fashion Critic), Simonetta Gianfelici (Fashion Expert of Altaroma and Talent Scout), Laura Lusuardi (Designer of Max Mara Group), Sara Maino (Senior Editor of Vogue Italia and Head of Vogue Talents), Suzy Menkes (International Vogue Editor of Condé Nast International), Raffaello Napoleone (Managing Director of Pitti Immagine), Chioma Nnadi (Fashion News Director of Vogue.com), Franca Sozzani (Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia), Stella Jean (Designer of Stella Jean), Nadja Swarovski (Head of Corporate Communications and Design Services for Swarovski), Roberta Valentini (Owner of Penelope), Riccardo Vannetti (Tutorship Director), Silvia Venturini Fendi (President of Altaroma) and Lory Yedid (Head Hunter of Value Search).

The July event will see the awarding of several innovative prizes for the winners and finalists.

A cash prize will be awarded to winners and finalists who have grown their businesses, promoted their brands and created new Fall/Winter collections which will be showcased at Altaroma January 2017.

Thanks to a new collaboration with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, one of Altaroma’s institutional partners, the winner of the prêt-à-porter category will be given a chance to present his or her collection at the September 2017 edition of Milano Moda Donna, while the winner of the accessories

category will showcase his or her creations at the “Fashion Hub Market”.

Yoox.com, the global Internet retailing partner for leading fashion and luxury brands in the world of fashion, design and art, has renewed its important partnership with “Who Is On Next?”. At the July event it will once again honour one or more finalists of the competition with a special mention. The winners will be given an opportunity to be included in the list of designers selected to showcase their creations at “The Next Talents 2017”, a project developed by Vogue Italia and yoox.com to support young talents, which will be held during Milan Fashion Week in February. The designers will thus be given a chance to showcase and sell a selection of their collections on yoox.com in more than 100 countries worldwide.

This 12th edition of “Who Is On Next?” also boasts a new partnership between Altaroma and Tomorrow.

This International Sales Platform, oriented towards sought-after fashion design, with as many as four showrooms in major fashion capitals across the world, including London, Milan, Paris and New York, will award the “TOMORROW Prize” to one of the finalists of the project. The award will include a cash prize and the inclusion of the winning designer’s collection at its Paris-based showroom during the September 2016 edition of Woman Fashion Week.

Premiere Classe, a prestigious French trade fair of international repute dedicated to the world of accessories, is proud to announce a new partnership with “Who Is On Next?”. PREMIERE CLASSE will host the work of all the designers, selected as finalists in the contest’s accessories category, in a dedicated area which will be set up at the next edition of the fair, scheduled to be held from 2 to 5 September at Porte De Versailles in Paris. The winner of the project will be awarded a free, 4 sq.m. stand at PREMIERE CLASSE TUILERIES from 29 September to 2 October at Jardin des Tuileries during Paris Fashion Week, where he or she will have an opportunity to present his or her collection to the most prominent international buyers.

The numerous and interesting applications submitted for participation at “Who Is On Next? 2016” were vetted by a committee whose members included Simonetta Gianfelici, Fashion Expert and Talent Scout, and Sara Maino, Senior Editor of Vogue Italia and Head of Vogue Talents.

Twelve projects have been selected for inclusion in the group of finalists of this new edition: five designers in the clothing category and six in the accessories and jewelry sector will present their collections to an international jury in Rome.

designers’ scrupulous study of contrasting ideas, materials and fabrics is a part of the brand’s DNA. Each collection is studied as part of an ongoing project, based on research that though coherent in terms of its development is always original.
