If you're holding an event this week, chances are, it's somehow related to HUBWeek. Maybe you don't even know it. The fact is, a lot of these events we're recommending this week are tied to what has been dubbed as SXSW, Boston-edition. It's as if we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Monday, October 5
HUBWeek continues on Monday and for the rest of the week. You can find our top event picks for the festival here, but we'll toss out a few more event suggestions: the MADE@MassChallenge Hardware Startup Showcase, which starts at 6 p.m. and costs nothing to register, and Celebrate Boston, a kick-off party that starts at 6 p.m. at WeWork's South Station location.

Police Innovation Conference 2015: Presented by WiredBlue, the Cambridge Police Department and Microsoft, this three-day conference takes a look at innovations in law enforcement technology. Registration has closed, but you can find more details about speakers and panels here.

&THEN: The Direct Marketing Association's annual conference at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center for digital marketers continues for a second day on Monday and finishes on Tuesday. Tuesday, October 6
FutureM: Another day, another conference for digital marketers. MITX's three-day conference at the Hynes Convention Center focuses on the convergence of marketing and technology and kicks off on Tuesday with a keynote by Brian David Johnson, futurist and principal engineer at Intel. TechHub Boston holds its monthly Tuesday Demo Night at the Bell In Hand tavern near Bunker Hill Community College as part of HUBWeek's festivities. The presenting startups will be Techtrition, Follow Price, KeyForAll and iRecover. Registration is free, and it starts at 6 p.m.

The Boston Entrepreneurs' Network hosts a panel at 6:30 p.m. at Constant Contact's Waltham HQ on innovative ways to bootstrap your startup without raising capital from VCs or angel investors. Speakers include Colliders Accelerator Founder Joanna Lang, LogoMix Founder and CEO Craig Bloem and JENTEK Sensors Neil Goldfine. Find details about pricing here.

Greentown Labs hosts a special HUBWeek edition of its monthly EnergyBar meetup for startups, investors and others interested in cleantech. The free event starts at 5:30 p.m., but if you're looking to get some cardio first, you can join Greentown Labs for HUBWeek's Innovation Village Stroll that begins at 4 p.m. outside of Aeronaut Brewing Co.

Wednesday, October 7
Immigration Issues for Entrepreneurs and Emerging Companies: This free panel hosted at law firm McCarter & English's Cambridge office starts at 9:30 a.m. and dives into current visa options available for foreign-national entrepreneurs and what kind of comprehensive immigration reform we can expect. More details here.

Tech Cigars: Smoke cigars with your fellow tech enthusiasts, starting at noon at the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park. This event is free because the world is free. RSVP to let them know if they need to find a bigger park.

The Startup Institute hosts a free panel at Workbar Cambridge on how to break into Boston's startup ecosystem. The panelists are David Chang, entrepreneur-in-residence at Harvard Business School; Meredith Sandiford, executive director of The Capital Network and Greenhorn Connect; and Allan Telio, vice president and Boston director, Startup Institute.
Thursday, October 8
Women in Tech Story Slam: LaunchSquad hosts this free HUBWeek storytelling event at Microsoft's Cambridge office, where female entrepreneurs, executives and VCs share their own stories of a "life- or career-altering collaboration" that happened in Boston. The storytellers are Julia Austin, entrepreneur-in-residence at Harvard Business School; Cynthia Breazeal, founder and chief scientist at JIBO; Laura Fitton, inbound marketing evangelist at HubSpot; Sheele Subramanian, VP of international operations at JANA; C.A. Webb, partner and co-founder of Assemble VC; and Daphne Zohar, CEO at PureTech. Event starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 6.

The Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum hosts a 5:35 p.m. talk by Peter Zawadzki, founder of Classic&Exotics, a Sandwich-based startup that lets people rent classic and exotics cars on an hourly or daily basis. The $20 event will be held at White's Restaurant in Wesport. Zawadzki, who won funding from the TechStars Mobility program, will be joined by panelists Jennifer Jordan, VP of MassVentures; and Barbara Arena, VP of Granite State Development Corp.

Inside Kendall Square: Another HUBWeek event. Surprised? This day-long celebration of Cambridge's Kendall Square spans multiple events, ranging from panels on jellyfish and robots to public tours and parties. Find all the info you need right here.
Friday, October 9
#Tech4Democracy Showcase and Challenge: This free event hosted by the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School brings together students, civic tech startups and entrepreneurs to discuss how digital technology and creativity can be combined to improve the way governments work. Presenters at the showcase will pitch their idea to a panel of experts, and the winners will receive a $5,000 price. Event starts at 5 p.m.

Live Higher Education Pitch Competition: Hosted by LearnLaunch Institute and Cengage Learning, this fast-paced pitch competition pits edtech startups against each other that work in the higher education world. This event is free to attend and starts at 11:30 a.m.

Beantown Throwdown: The MIT Enterprise Forum hosts this student startup pitch competition at District Hall in Boston, where startups from Babson, Berklee, UMass Lowell, Wentworth and five other schools will compete. Winning teams are expected to win a slew of prizes to help build out their companies. Event starts at 6 p.m. Go here for pricing details.
