1. Jim Corbett National Park

4. Sundarbans National Park

This is a world heritage site with the largest population of the Royal Bengal Tigers in the world. Covered by a dense mangrove forest, the Sundarbans is a protected area located in the state of West Bengal. The core area of the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve was declared in the year 1973 and it was declared as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1977. Later in 1984, it was declared a national park. The core area in the national park is a natural habitat of many toxic reptiles and several man-eaters like the salt water crocodile. This area is also free from any human disturbances. There are several documentaries and even a movie has been filmed in the Sundarbans National Park.

5. Gir Wildlife Sanctuary

When you have the largest population of the purest breed of the majestic Asian Lion or Indian Lion, then visiting this wildlife sanctuary becomes more fun and enjoyable. It is said to be one of the most protected areas of India as well as for Asia. The weather, habitat is perfect to support all species of wild animals and birds. The population of the Indian Lion is said to be around 411, a significant increase from the population of 2005. 6. Periyar National Park

8. Bandipur National Park

Located in the dense forests of the Western Ghat in the Chamarajanagar district of southern Karnataka.It is a combination of three other national parks i.e. Wynad Wildlife Sanctuary, Mudumalai National Park, and Nagarhole. This is the largest protected area in South India. The main attractions are definitely the Bengal Tigers and close to 3000 Indian elephants. Bandipur is also home to beautiful birds like Brown Hawk Owl, Nilgiri Flycatcher, Fish Eagle, Malabar Pied Hornbill, and wild animals like Gaur Dhole Four-horned Antelopes, reptiles like Chameleon, Python, Crocodiles, Monitor Lizard and the Great King Cobra. This is one of the largest national parks in India which covers an area of approximately 392 Kilometers. Ranthambore is situated in the state of Rajasthan in the district of Madhopur. It is home to several great majestic cats, Hyenas, Sambar, wild boar and much more. The Ranthambore Fort is also inside this national park which is why it was named as the Ranthambore National Park. 10. Hemis National Park

Hemis is probably the only national park which has the largest protected area in India. Located in Ladakh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. You will find the rarest and several species of endangered mammals such as the Indian Snow Leopard, Eurasian Brown Bear, Sheep, Tibetan Wolf and the Red Fox, etc. The Indian Snow Leopard has a population of close to 200 in this park.
