Elisabeth Engelberg ’83

After having completed her studies at Mount Holyoke College, Elisabeth returned to her native Sweden where she delved into psychology and eventually received her PhD from Stockholm University. Findings from her research on the influence of the popular media on affective and cognitive processes have been published in scientific journals. In addition, she has taught Consumer Psychology at the Stockholm School of Economics, and lectured on courses that make up the Graphic Management Program. Since 2009, she has been a researcher at the university in Luxembourg where she resides with her husband.

Erica Lutes ’02

After graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in international relations, Erica worked on the European sales desk for Goldman Sachs in their equity department. She holds three master's degrees from the University of Leuven (Belgium) in political economy, conflict and peace studies, and international business. From 2006 to 2008, she served as the staff aide to the US ambassador to Belgium. After working for the US State Department as an EducationUSA adviser and Fulbright Belgium-EU program, Erica became the youngest executive director of a Fulbright Commission in 2012 at the age of 31. She is a visiting lecturer at the Odisee (part of the University of Leuven) in business and culture. In her spare time she runs marathons and teaches spinning classes. She is a specialist in European and US higher education.

Silvia Maulini ’80

Upon receiving a degree in American studies from Mount Holyoke College, Silvia returned to Italy to graduate in English language and literature at the I.U.L.M. University in Milano. She subsequently started working in the area of corporate communications and public relations, where she was involved in numerous international projects in Europe and the Americas. In 1993, Silvia moved to the Netherlands to start a family and to progress in her professional career. After working in corporate communications at TNT Express Worldwide, she joined the ABN AMRO Group in 1998, where she covered a number of marketing and communications senior management positions in different sectors of the financial services business. Silvia retired from the corporate world in 2008 and shifted her focus to non-profit activities. She currently teaches cooking workshops at local non-profit evening schools and is active within the Slow Food movement.

Gabrielle Swinkels ’85

After graduating from Mount Holyoke College, Gabrielle continued her education at the University of Amsterdam Law School, receiving her law degree in 1988. She worked in banking and finance for seventeen years, and left this field in 2005 to help build and manage her husband’s dentist company and to spend time with her three children. Gabrielle received her health law degree from the University of Amsterdam in 2010, and currently works part-time as a legal advisor for individual dentists and a Dutch dentist association, while part-time managing her family’s dentist company.
