The Dark Knight Rises box office: ahead of Total Recall 2012. (Photo above: Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in TDKR.) Christopher Nolan's final installment in his Batman movie trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, will undoubtedly remain at the top of the North American box office this weekend, August 3-5. That's three weekends in a row for TDKR. For comparison's sake: the previous installment in the franchise, The Dark Knight, remained no. 1 at the US/Canada box office for four weekends in summer 2008. Toplining Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel, Len Wiseman's widely panned Total Recall, a "reboot" of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzengger / Paul Verhoeven movie, opened on Friday at 3,601 North American sites. The sci-fier / actioner had to content itself with a quite disappointing second place on opening day. (Please see more information below.) TDKR weekend box office: 45% drop?
