There is a group of mostly heterosexual males who are attracted to female giantesses.

Here Come The Giants

Subjects of sexual attraction come in all different shapes and sizes. Big, small, fat skinny – you name it. And in some cases, the subjects are super big… and super small.

While most are familiar with the words “giant” and “giantess,” few have come across the term “Macrophilia” – a word reserved for those whose sexual fantasies center on giant-sized individuals. The term was first used by the pseudonym Samuel Ramses, M.D., Ph. D., in “Introduction to Macrophilia.”

Marcrophilia literally translates to “lover of large.” But those grouped into this category are unique in that they aren’t getting off on others simply being “bigger” than them (as those in the fat admiration community do), but by people who tower over them in height.

Though this specific group of admirers (also referred to as “macrophiles”) can be male, female, homosexual or heterosexual, the overwhelming majority seems to be heterosexual males attracted to female giantesses. And in some cases, the macrophiles can trace their offbeat attraction back to childhood. Back in 1999, Dr, Helen Friedman, a clinical psychologist in St. Louis told Joe Bowen of Salon magazine, “They’re {macrophiles} playing out some old, unresolved psychological issue. Maybe as a child they felt overwhelmed by a dominant mother, or a sadistic mother. Maybe they were abused. This {macrophilia} is not so much a fetish as a disassociation from reality. It’s part of an internal world.”

But is it fair to blame one’s entrance into the wonderful, weird world of sexual fetishes on over-bearing mothers or even childhood abuse? Maybe it doesn’t have to be so sinister. Maybe it’s possible to be a macrophile without having suffered a traumatic past. Maybe it all comes down to something as simple as early exposure.

One macrophile (also interviewed by Bowen) explained, “I was turned on
by ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ before I knew what the
birds and the bees were all about. In the book there’s a scene in the land
of Brobdingnag where Gulliver gets intimate with one of the local
giantesses – the enticingly named Glumdaclitch. I’ve
fantasized about giantesses ever since. Like any fetish, if you
don’t have it, you probably won’t get it”.

Then there’s 24-year-old Matt, who described himself as an “everyday, typical guy” when appearing on an episode of TLC’s Strange Sex in which the giantess fetish was being investigated. There he announced, “There’s honestly not a whole lot of difference between the Godzilla movies and the giantess videos besides the fact that in stead of a giant lizard you have an attractive lady playing the part.”

It’s not hard to decode the visual. But it may be hard to digest the attraction itself. Sex therapist Marianne Brandon, who also appeared the episode of Strange Sex, insists, “The giantess fetish can be sexual for some people because they associate that vast distinction in power and the experience of vulnerability in a sexual way.”

Does that make macrophilia just another means by which femdom (female domination) can dress itself up? In a word, yes.

Every Ying Needs Its Yang… Meet The Microphiles

Just as every dog needs its master (or perhaps more relevant to this article, as every master needs its slave) every macrophile needs its microphile, or someone whose sexual fantasies center on miniature-sized individuals. Yes, it’s the exact reverse of macrophilia.

One 27-year-old microphile, who also runs the website Giantess Katelyn, explains on her site, “For me personally, the Giantess fetish is all about the power and size. Nothing gets me soaked faster than towering over a city as a Giantess, my feet so large they could take out entire car-packed streets at a time. It is truly the fetish of the Goddesses- it places the highest power and control possible in the woman’s hands. You literally become a female deity to the people below whether they accept you or not. Millions of lives find themselves beneath you struggling to survive as you fulfill your own deep sexual desires. Not only does the Giantess fetish allow you to indulge fully in this extreme sexual power, but it allows millions of others to indulge in it too as you orgasm high above them!”

For macrophiles, nothing seems more appealing than a microphile expressing their desire, or better yet their ability, to control them. Maybe being dominated by a giantess allows macrophiles to step outside the role society has carved out for them. They can be small, frail, vulnerable – they no longer hold the reins to their own fate. In that way, they get to experience a variant of what a lot of women encounter daily. But does the figure of the giantess really allow men to break such cemented gender barriers?

In her article, Putting a Dominatrix in Her Place: The Representation and Regulation of Female Dom/Male Sub Sexuality, Ummni Kahn insists that our society experiences female dominance as a moment of “gender trouble.” While those outside of the fetish community may feel an urge to rectify this exchange of power, those within it are likely to celebrate.

As “Giantess Katelyn” explains on her website, “My audience and fans (which are made up of both girls and guys- although the majority are guys), they too are turned on by the insane power and control a Giantess has. But they want the exact opposite out of the fetish: they wish to feel fear, terror- like they no longer have control of the situation. They want their heart to race as the giant, city-destroying female does as she pleases with them and their environment. A Giantess to them is no different than a Goddess- they love how she has the incredible power to give or take life- whether she realizes it or not! The only thing in the girl’s mind is “how can I please myself even more?” and Giantess fans love it.“

Coming To A Site Near You: Why Macrophilia Has Found A Home Online

It’s easy enough to define, but what does the Macrophilia fetish actually look like in practice? There’s only one place to turn to get a glimpse: the web.

Because it’s unlikely that you will stumble across a woman who is the size of a skyscraper, macrophilia exists almost exclusively in the form of fantasy. And as Hollywood has taught us, there’s no easier way to create a fantasy world than through film.

There are hundreds, probably thousands, of videos dedicated to macrophilia out there. And the most common theme among them is the use of props, and the manner of manipulating the camera. Gary Pranzo is the owner of Media Impact LLC, a company that produces and distributes Giantess videos. He also owns around 50 websites dedicated to size fetishes. For his videos, Pranzo creates a series of miniature sets for his “Giantess” actresses to destroy (who in reality usual stand at a fairly-average 5’8).

Pranzo then turns to a green-screen to film the “victims” who will later be crushed by the giantesses (who are almost always filmed in a low angle view). After hours of editing, viewers get to see men crushed underneath enormous feet, streets destroyed, skyscrapers taken down by giant… features. But there is one major thing missing from these Giantess videos and something that works to distinguish them from other fetish clips. In most cases, there is no actual nudity or sexual acts involved. Its absence allows viewers to focus solely on the Giantess’ size, strength and power.

The Giantess Fetish… And Its Friends

The words “crushed,” “control” and the like have come up a few times already. And that’s because macrophilia opens itself up to a slew of additional fetishes. As Ramses details in his article, these other fetishes tend to “go hand-in-hand” with macrophilia. Ramses lists:

Sadism/masochism: pleasure is achieved by being physically harmed or even killed by a giant

Dominance/submission: pleasure is derived from being at the mercy of a giant, or from being in control of a tiny person

Vorarephilia: a fixation with eating or swallowing

Crush fixations: a sexual thrill is gained by the act of crushing or of seeing a small creature crushed; a more specific subset is macrophilic podophilia (foot fetishism), in which pleasure is obtained from small creatures being stepped on

Destruction: pleasure is obtained from the act of demolishing buildings and/or massive loss of life (often associated with displaced aggression)

Bestial fixations: the subject of desire is a giant animal, often anthropomorphized (given human characteristics)

Excretory fixations

Can We Turn Fantasy Into Reality?

No, there are no undiscovered 100-foot giants roaming about (that we know of). In that sense, macrophiles will never be able to experience their fantasy come to life. But that doesn’t mean they can’t come close.

There are a growing number of women out there who are making a living out of being real-life giantesses. Also known as “Amazonian Women,” they make their money wrestling, hugging, carrying and manhandling medium-to-small-sized men.

Standing 6 feet 3 inches, “Amazon Amanda” doesn’t have a hard time making men feel small. She gets to paid do height size comparisons, lifting, carrying, smothering and wrestling, The professional model boasts that her fan base extends all over the world.

“Amazon Eve” may be an even more recognizable name. She most recently landed a part on FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show. The trans-model stands at an impressive 6 feet 8 inches and in 2011 was even awarded the title of “World’s Tallest Professional Model” by the Guinness Book of World Records. But before she hit the big time, Eve also came from humble beginnings. And for Amazonian models, humble beginnings usually come in the form of entertaining smaller men with their titanic size. It may not be Godzilla material per se, but it is a start, right?
