This Page is sponsored by Barons Market in Alpine and features pets available for adoption in Alpine and East County San Diego

About Us: Our rescue is almost 100% foster based. This means that our animals reside in the private homes of the people who volunteer for us. Because of this we do not have one general location to see all of our animals.

Fostering helps us to understand what each animal is going to be like once they get to their forever home. From their likes & dislikes to behaviors to medical needs, because we are foster based we have a good idea of the personality and needs of the animal you are interested in adopting.

“Panda”

Panda is a 2 year old American Bully (not to be confused with American Bulldog, this breed is similar to a Staffordshire Bull Terrier). He would prefer a life where he gets to spend a lot of time indoors with his people. Panda is a failed fight dog that was actually used at the shelter for temperament testing new dogs!! Under his rugged good looks he is all love and is NOT a good guard dog since he is eager to please and has never met a stranger. He loves other dogs & cats, but is not a big fan of tortoises. Because Panda has no idea he is a big guy he would do best in a home with kids over 8.

“Jessie” (You can see Jessie in Person at Natural Instincts Healthy Pet Center in Alpine)

Jessie is a 1.5 year old female Chihuahua-Dachshund mix is all love and energy! She is a fun little lady looking for someone who enjoys her two favorite things, play and sleep. She loves kids of all sizes and is working on controlling her excitement (she tends to go overboard with kisses). She would love to be a companion for someone that likes walks, maybe traveling & definitely spending time with her!! She would be ok with an older, established, cat, but will chase anything that runs from her (balls, kids, etc.)! Jessie is a very smart dog and has proved herself to be a great “natural” pest control when it comes to squirrels and rats.

“Ariana”

Ariana, who is Jessie’s pup, is a 12 week old Chi-Weenie & Yorkie mix. She is a very smart pup & is ready to go home immediately! This little sweetheart is all personality. She is kennel trained & uses potty pads.  Like any puppy she has lots of energy and will need more training. Her picture doesn’t show how adorable she really is!! Ariana gets along great with other dogs, loves to play and is still learning her manners when it comes to cats.

“Einz” (You can see Jessie in Person at Natural Instincts Healthy Pet Center in Alpine)

Einz, is just under a year old and we think he is a Shitzu mix. He is still very much a puppy!! Einz is a joyful pup that really does best with another dog in his life. He has the ability to make almost anyone smile, because his own smile is very contagious. He is crate trained, but has further to go with all other training and would thrive if someone was able to attend obedience classes with him. His high energy level and desire to play with everyone causes him to not do well with cats. We’re also recommending he go to a home with kids over 8 for the same reason. He does great with dogs of all other ages and sizes. This little guy really is Mr. Personality!!

The ‘Teen Titan’ Kittens

These adorable 6 week old kittens are almost ready to go home. Named after the cartoon Teen Titan characters, Raven, Beastboy & Starfire, two of these adorable tuxedo kittens are also polydactyl (Raven & Beastboy), meaning they have some extra toes. A unique characteristic that has no negative health effects at all, this trait is actually considered good luck.

MISC. FOSTER ADOPTIONS

“Ginger” – Rescued in Kosovo by an American Marine

Hi my name is Marsela and I am a resident of Alpine. I have a shepherd mix breed dog I am currently fostering since April because I am looking for the right home for her. Her name is “Ginger” and she is about 5 years old. Ginger was rescued by an American Marine who was stationed in Kosovo, a country located in eastern Europe right next to Serbia and Albania. She was just a few weeks old when he found her in the street beaten and starved. He adopted her and she has been with him ever since. He believes that her parents and the rest of the pups from her litter were killed and only Ginger survived. As you can tell, he cares for her very deeply but, unfortunately, he has been deployed again and where he went Ginger was not allowed to go with him.

She is potty trained knows a lots of tricks and commands. Is loving and gets along very well with humans. Ginger is very smart, affectionate and loves to cuddle. She listens well and loves her human friends. Ginger has an eye condition called pannus which does not go away, but is managed with eye drops. She is spayed and micro chipped. Ginger would love to be in a one dog household and is a great companion. I also want to let anyone know that if anyone who adopts her, that if they are ever faced with not being able to keep her, they can return her to me. I would NEVER want her to be taken to a shelter.  Please help me find Ginger right home

“Roc” – (Foster Adoption)

‘Roc’ is a beautiful 4-year old red American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is a little shy with new people but, once he knows you, has a huge loving soul and enjoys nothing more than spending time with you, getting lots of pets.  All he wants is to be loved and be around people, especially children.   He walks well on leash and loves to go for walks and experience things that he’s never had a chance to do in his previous life.  Roc is neutered and up to date with his Distemper/Parvo and Rabies shots.  He weighs about 80 lbs.  Medical records will be provided. A home visit will be conducted to help ensure the best fit for ‘Roc’ and his new family.  Roc’s rehoming fee is $75.

“Gaia”

Gaia is a beautiful 1.5yr old female, spayed pittie who has had a terrible start in life and was rescued from San Bernadino City Shelter about 3 months ago right after giving birth to pups that were never found. She came to me a complete mess, very sick and in deep grief at losing her babies. She has been nursed back to health and is now a vibrant, energetic pup.  She is great around cats and to date, dogs are the challenge, so a home with no other dogs, except maybe small, playful ones is the best place for her. I have two other big dogs that would LOVE to play with her, but she has experienced too much trauma for that to happen – today. We have an animal behaviorist on the team and she is making progress, so we are hopeful.  She would thrive in a home with a pack leader who is willing to be consistent, keep her safe, correct her and give her boundaries. She is pure love.
