Greater Manchester Police is one of the UK's largest police forces and is responsible for keeping people safe across more than 1,200 sq km. The Force covers the Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan areas.GMPs officers and staff work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to keep almost three million people safe. The Force has 11 geographical policing areas known as Divisions that ensure it provides the best possible service to people who live, work and visit Greater Manchester.The Human Resource Branch provides HR advice, support and guidance to staff, line managers and senior leaders. The branch consists of HR Operations; Policy and People Relations; Performance & Resource Management; HR Systems; Transactional HR (including Payroll, Pensions and Recruitment); Health, Safety & Wellbeing; and Occupational Health & Welfare.The Transaction Centre Team Leaders manage a team of HR Assistants processing a wide variety of HR Transactions. The role of the unit is vital in managing resources by ensuring that force-wide data is accurate in relation to new starters, transfers and leavers.Examples of work undertaken in the role include maintaining and updating computerised HR records, assisting in identifying training needs, supporting the team, allocating and monitoring work in order to manage conflicting deadlines, disseminate policy and review procedures, investigate and respond to complaints.It is essential that the successful postholder is working towards their CIPD, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in HR/administration discipline or relevant proven experience, worked in an HR/training/administration environment using computer systems to input, monitor, maintain and interrogate data.A working knowledge of a broad range of HR areas, Attendance Management, Recruitment and Selection and Establishment and Strength Management.Experience in dealing with complaints, staff development and able to provide feedback where necessary.It is required that you have the ability to keep up to date with changes in employment legislation, policies, procedures, practices etc. have excellent communication skills and experience of liaising with people at all levels appreciating confidentiality issues and using a sensitive approach.An understanding of the role of trade unions, staff associations in the consultation negotiation process, and the ability to write reports clearly and concisely is essential.Even though this vacancy is offered as a temporary role, secondments will be accepted from internal colleagues who wish to apply.
