Job Summary:
Bangalore Platform Content Management team provides systems development and support for content processing needs. Content used by Legal Business Unit and some of the other Business Units in print and electronic products is sourced from systems developed by this group. The group oversees and executes on a wide range of project types, ranging from cost saving infrastructure to revenue driving product development initiatives.
Acquisition and Publishing Platforms (APP) group is responsible for the software applications needed to acquire, convert, transform and publish information across all major content sets supported by this team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to serve as an Associate Software Engineer within the APP team in Bangalore.
The ideal candidate would possess strong technical and problem solving skills. He/she must also possess effective oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. A history of resolving time sensitive issues in a fast paced production environment while maintaining strong customer relationships are key selection criteria.
Essential day to day activities:
Development activities:
Develop efficient and high quality code while meeting product release deadlines
Assist leads to prepare time estimates for projects and software design plans
Create good technical design documentation and technical approach
Develop and execute detailed test plans (unit testing and functional testing)
Provide guidance and technical assistance to junior staff members
Production Support & Maintenance activities:
Respond quickly to support issues and follow up till resolution
Conduct thorough troubleshooting and provide quick resolution to production problems
Follow up and provide timely reporting on issues to management
Education:
A four-year degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent is required.
Graduate training in business or technology is a plus, but not required.
Required Skills:
Mainframe, z/OS, PL/1, JCL
Knowledge to create unit level tests
Experience in use of source control tools such as Team Foundation Server
Effectively balance and prioritize multiple projects and tasks concurrently
Ability to interact effectively within and across other teams
Strong technical acumen and communications skills
Proficient in XML and related technologies
Desired Skills:
Content management technologies in an information industry context
Auditre, MQ, Adabas
Knowledge of Java programming
- Understanding of financial markets viz. equity, Securities (Bonds, debentures, derivatives), Stock Markets, regulations, Capital Market, Mergers & Acquisitions, Current Economy & Current affairs & Knowledge on Commodities markets
- Adequate knowledge of financial markets and market practices/conventions and ability to read and interpret a wide variety of financial information
- Excellent command of English both written and spoken
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to work within a team and to build interpersonal relationships
- Should be able to adapt in a changing environment
- Candidate should be open to work in shifts
- Proficient knowledge and interest in world and business affairs.

Essential responsibilities –The resources provide complete technical support, which may be related to Omnesys components or compatibility of this product towards operating systems and networks.The resource is able to co-relate frontend related issues to the backendThe resource owns the customer site in terms of processes running on it and interconnectivityThe resource is responsible to ensure the smooth operations of allotted customers to him/her.The resource is responsible to help the customer to restore the server in case of existing hardware failure.Resource is responsible to help the customer to test the new releases.The resource is responsible for providing inputs and knowledge base in case if customer faces technical issues regarding the applications.The resource is responsible to ensure the installation of all the new releases done for customer. Education – BE or any 4 year equivalent degree with 65% aggregate marks or 7.1 CGPA. Or MCA.
Experience –
Freshers should be fine.
