Alliance Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a part-time, 20 hours/week, Pharmacist to provide a range of clinical support to the Clinical, Provider Network and Quality Management departments. The Pharmacist will help ensure the use of best practices across the area and will help ensure consumer health and safety through a range of monitoring, consultation, training and provider outreach activities. This position works under the supervision of the Medical Director.

Duties Include (but are not limited to):

Review and screen high risk patients identified by internal reports and provide consultation and recommendations to clinical staff

Perform behavioral health medication review on referred cases

Provide clinical pharmacy input, with behavioral health emphasis when needed to address complex cases and cases with complex co-morbidity

Assist in the selection of the most cost effective, evidence-based behavioral health regimen for patients and populations

Serve as a behavioral health drug information and therapeutic resource for Alliance staff

Assist with monitoring patient response to treatment, drug/drug and drug/disease interactions; assess medication dosages and side effects assessment

Provide highly specialized education and training support for other professional services in the broad area of advanced pharmacotherapy, with emphasis on psychiatric issues

Attend and provide feedback at team meetings related to pharmacology

Utilize Care Management technologies and other clinical tools to uncover potential ineffective and/or high risk prescribing practices and intervene as necessary

Assist in the development and oversight of prescribing practice Quality Improvement Plans

Coordinate/participate in activities related to improving outcomes for targeted disease management initiatives leading to improved health (such as mental heath/developmental disabilities)

Support statewide behavioral health initiatives such as A+KIDS, ASAP, Narcotic Lock-in and Chronic Pain Initiative

Work with Care Managers and Clinical Coordinators to address patient access to medication post discharge from EDs and Inpatient units

Coordinate referrals with CCNC network Pharmacists, mental health providers, care managers, etc. as needed

Make referrals to the appropriate Medicaid experts for Medicaid contractual and coverage issues

Assist with Alliance initiatives to improve medication adherence within the covered population.
