London is getting trendier by the day and the latest fad is Crazy Golf with plenty of trendy joints opening up recently for this passion. There are places meant for adults and there are less hip places where you can take your kids for a round of golf but these are no less crazy. These places mostly combine boozing and crazy golf.

Adult Crazy Golf Venues

Swingers: This venue has just opened in May and it incorporates two nine-hole courses which are The Windmill and The Lighthouse. It also has five bars and street food stalls representing London favourites Pizza Pilgrims, Le Bab and Patty & Bun. It is located at the foot of The Gherkin and its decor generally resembles any 1920s English country golf club. It is built on a 16,000-square-foot underground space and it features a two-storey club house with gin terrace and ample artificial foliage. It has loos marked “changing rooms” and a door leading to the club president’s office. Swingers will soon be in the company of an increasing number of London venues that offer something exciting along with the drinking like the darts bar Flight Club, foosball bar Kick, and table tennis venue Bounce. The Crystal Maze Experience opened in March. Swingers teed off on May 27 and operated on a first-come-first-served basis until June 5 and after that advance booking has been introduced. Tickets are £13 with a reservation and £15 on the door. Maximum four people per round.

Junkyard Golf Club: It has officially opened at the Old Truman Brewery. Some of the props used are old washing machines, bits of car, a doll-infested beach house and a life-sized model cow, that are used to create the three nine-hole courses. The whole design is meant to create a giant junkyard scenario. Teeing off at this place will give you an eclectic experience and you will need maximum skills to get the ball into a washing machine while you have a cocktail, called Golf Lundgren, in your hand, and to avoid flying balls from other players. Some really crazy targets await you here such as mangled dolls, crocodile tea parties and some utterly crazy items at the UV-coated neon room.

Birdies Crazy Golf: After experimenting for some time in the tunnels under Waterloo for the winter months, this crazy golf venue is now situated on a rooftop in east London for the summer. The Roof East, towering over the streets of Stratford, is now having a nine-hole course that has all sorts of loops and half pipes. It is the brainchild of the team that created Rooftop Film Club. Food and drink is available from mixology masters Spirited Mixers and hot dog experts RockaDollar Dogs. At night golf sessions, DJs spin the latest tunes. However, the weather does play spoilsport quite often!

Many luxury London hotels offer attractive deals that are ideal for budget travellers to stay in comfort at affordable cost with plenty of freebies. As such it will be worthwhile availing of London Hotels Deals Special Offers.

Family-Friendly Crazy Golf Options

Moby Golf, Dagenham: This golf course has been designed on the whale that is rumoured to have washed up in Dagenham in 1790. In the course, water is prominent everywhere but the main feature is the 9ft mouth of a full size sperm whale that you have to putt through to complete the course. It is located at Cranfield Golf Academy, Whalebone Lane North, Romford.

Mr Mulligan’s Dino Golf, Sidcup: In 2015, the London adventure golf scene was dominated by giant dinosaurs at the scenic venue of the A20 in Sidcup. It was known as Lost Island Encounter and it had two courses, However, presently there is just one giant, 36-hole adventure. It is located at Sidcup Road.

Dragon Quest, Croydon: Located at Croydon Golf Driving Range, 175 Long Lane, Croydon, it has 18 holes, a big mass of gold and fire-breathing dragons.

Dinosaur Escape, Northolt: Located at West London Golf Centre, Ruislip Road, Northolt, this course does not follow the current trend. Among the 18 holes, you can expect to see life size prehistoric predators.

Playgolf, Harrow: This nine-hole golf course is slightly different as it is designed for younger golfers and their families and it has a ‘watery’ theme as there is plenty of water and bunkers that you need to avoid. It is located at Watford Road, Harrow, Middlesex.

Putt in the Park, Wandsworth/Battersea/Acton: This golf course is less ferocious than the others as it does not have any whales, or dinosaurs but just good old fashioned crazy golf. It is available at three different London locations: Wandsworth Park, Battersea Park and Acton Park. The best part is that it is suitably designed for all levels of players from complete beginners to the family show-off kind. There are cafes in all these locations.
