Besides all its other attractions, London has a plethora of zoos, parks and sanctuaries  also have royal parks that are dedicated exclusively for kids and offer an absolutely entertaining, informative and fun environment where kids can get close to nature and also enjoy thoroughly. There is an extensive range of such places in the city but only a few are being enumerated below.

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo

Located at Chelsea Gate it is indeed a very good zoo especially for kids to get close to and know more about a wide variety of creatures such as meerkats, Wiggie and Piggle the Kune Kune Pigs, the Myrah birds and the pygmy goats. They can also see giant rabbits, small Shetland Ponies and a musical house along with an adventure playground. It also offers special activities during school holidays.

ZSL London Zoo

Kids at this zoo can get close to Western lowland gorillas by visiting the Gorilla Kingdom and experiencing the feel of a rainforest. They can see marmosets, tamarinds and other forest dwellers in the midst of lush plants and trees.

Paradise Wildlife

Kids can see an extensive array of animals such as tigers, lions, monkeys, zebra and camels. The new attractions include On Safari Adventure Golf, Tiger Falls, The Angkor Reptile Temple, Gold Planning, the Wild West Parrot Show, Wonders of the Rainforest, Battle of the Robots and Children’s Craft area.

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

At this zoo, kids can get close to some of the scariest, tallest, hairiest and smallest animals. Located in the rolling Chiltern Hills, the zoo is home to more than 2,500 species including elephants, rhinos, lions, cheetahs and giraffes. You can drive around in your own car or ride the Safari Bus. It is UK’s biggest zoo and it is less than an hour away from London.

Bucklebury Farm Park

This farm park has more than 70 acres of parkland that is home to deer, ponies, donkeys, pigs, wild boar and other animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. It offers tractor and trailer rides and an indoor play area with slides, a nature trail, large picnic area, an outdoor adventure playground, and a woodland walk.

Woburn Safari Park

Among the various London Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries, Woburn Safari Park is located in 300 acres of Woburn Abbey Deer Park, and has more than 800 animals spread over the Road safari and Foot safari that go into Savannah Grasslands and offers Rhinos, Ostriches and Eland Antelopes. At the Kingdom of Carnivores, you can see Amur Tigers, Timber Wolves and North American Black Bears. At the Lion Park you can see African Lions. The safari park is only an hours’ drive from London, Cambridge, Oxford and Birmingham.

Hepreth Wildlife Park

At this wildlife park, kids can meet many different types of animals, reptiles and creepy crawlies. They can see tigers and even become a tiger keeper for the day if they are over 18 years of age. It is a fantastic family attraction and one of East Anglia’s major attractions.

Drusillas Zoo Park

Among the various parks in London, the Drusillas Zoo Park offers a lot to do and kids get a spotter book as soon as they enter the park. It has an interactive button for kids to indulge in informative and fun activities. Besides the animals, the park also offers a brilliant working Thomas The Tank Engine that circles the site and a maze, adventure playground and paddling pool. The entry price also includes the Helklo Kitty Secret Garden attraction that features rides including a car ride, a tea cup ride and a Reach for the Sky hopper ride.

Linton Zoo

This zoo is a huge and wonderful menagerie of exotic creatures that range from the carpet python to the Mexican red-kneed tarantula, all in the backdrop of stunning gardens. It provides an intimate environment because of its small size. The viewing windows enable you to get close enough to see the whiskers of the tiger. Kids can also walk amongst the velociraptors and his pre-historic pals in the dinosaur area.

Marwell Zoo

This zoo has lovely grounds that are ideal for picnicking in the summer months. It offers a wide range of species including giraffes, snow leopards and cheetahs along with the ring-tailed coatis and the white-tailed scops owl. Kids can hunt for marine objects hidden in the underground section of Penguin Cove and play in the adjoining new play area.

Farmer Gow’s

It is an open farm in Oxfordshire providing real fun and a ‘hands on’ experience. It is an ideal place for a family day out. Its specialty is the ´Meet the Animals’ that is held daily at 11:00 and 14:00. It also provides indoor and outdoor activities.

Cotswold Park and Gardens

With over 260 animal species located in 160 acres of spacious Parkland, the park offers New Giraffe Walkway, rhinos and zebras and lemurs. You can ride on the railway around the Park and climb into the tree house in the adventure playground.

The New Forest Wildlife Park

This park is set in 25 acres of virgin woodland in the beautiful New Forest where you can get close to the Sika, fallow and roe deer that move about freely throughout in it. The other amazing animals that you can see include otters, several species of owls, wolves, bison, wild boar, red deer, muntjac deer, Scottish wildcats, lynx, wallabies, water voles, adders, foxes, polecats, pine martens and ferrets.

Monkey Haven

The Monkey Haven provides a lot of fun for everyone as it is home to cheeky capuchins, whooping gibbons, birds of prey and other exciting creatures. The park cares for monkeys and other animals in need. It is a Gold Award winning attraction that always has something new to offer. It specialises in daily keeper talks, animal feeds, play areas and tea room.
