If you’re stuck for ideas to keep the children busy this half term, why not take them to the RAF Museum? With actives from the very young to the older child the RAF Museum is the perfect place to take them for a day out.

There are exhibitions on that take the children through the ages of airplane history, story telling sessions and cafes for when they need a break.

In the museum you can –

· Be amazed by stunning exhibition, First World War in the Air.

· Marvel at the life-sized model of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet – the only place in the world where it is on display.

Come for a flying visit and stay the day. Why not fuel your imagination and get the entire family working together exploring the Royal Air Force Museum and the fun side of flight?

Visit the Museum's First World War in the Air.Be amazed by the 5m high statue of Sir Keith Park and take in their free emotive sound and light show 'Our Finest Hour' about 'The Few' which runs daily from 11am to 5pm in the Hall.

Don't forget to visit the Hall's Mezzanine level, which is currently showing the Battle of Britain Art Exhibition or to visit Winston Churchill as he gives his Battle of Britain Speech to the nation from his office in No.10 Downing Street.

Then leave the Hall by taking a trip through an interactive Sunderland Flying Boat – ideal for fascinating the younger members of the family.

Other areas of interest for younger visitors include the Museum's free 3D cinema, on the top floor of our Milestones of Flight Gallery, plus its 'control tower' viewing Gallery onto the aircraft below and the Museum's Interactive Gallery, Aeronauts, where they cam learn about the science of flight, through play.

This experience is a faboulous day out for the whole family and what could be better than getting up close and personal to aircraft that have featured so prominently in history.

What’s even better is that it is completely free to enter and is easily accessible by public transport. As one of London's premier tourist attractions reaching us is quick and easy. We're just 10 minutes from Junction 4 of the M1, 30 minutes from Central London by Tube, and a 7 minute bus ride from Colindale Underground Station. The Museum is situated at Colindale Underground on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line. To travel to the Museum, get on the Northern Line (the black line on the maps) travelling North. The Northern Line runs through Kings Cross Station so this can be a useful place to pick it up. Currently their car park is being done up, but this does not effect visitors arriving by car.
