Alhambra police crack down on drivers in pedestrian decoy operation (ABC Local)
The Alhambra Police Department held a pedestrian decoy operation Wednesday. Officers dressed as pedestrians used the crosswalk on Valley Boulevard and Eighth Street and nearby police ticketed drivers who failed to stop. Alhambra police say the checkpoint is about enforcement and education.
South Pasadena burglar returns stolen goods (South Pasadena Patch)
After a South Pasadena resident chased a burglar who had stolen his tools Tuesday morning, the suspect returned the property and walked away. The burglar got into a gray 1990s Honda Accord and fled the scene. He's described as 35-40, 5'10" tall, 170 pounds, with a dark complexion and a mustache. Anyone with information can call the South Pasadena Police Department at (626) 403-7270.
National Park status for San Gabriel Mountains reaches White House (San Gabriel Valley Tribune)
A proposal to designate the San Gabriel Valley Mountains, San Gabriel and Rio Hondo rivers, and Puente-Chino Hills as a federal recreation area has reached the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). If the OMB approves the proposal, which includes federal designation and $2 million and $4 million a year in funding from the National Park Service, it will be sent to Congress to approve and then passed along to the president.
