Redwood Son

A diverse slew of local musical talent will be joining forces on May 2nd, to give back to two of Portland's proudest music supporters, Oregon Music News & Portland Radio Project. Ranging from the Funk of Roseland Hunters, to the Roots Rock of Redwood Son, the International Folk of Mbrascatu, or the Electro Driven Acoustic Minds, this show will have a little bit of something for everyone. It doesn't end there though, as a group of heavyweight songwriters join the night to show thanks also. Names like, Tyler Stenson, Laura Ivancie, Andrew Paul Woolworth, Sarah Billings, The Sale, Will West, & Pilar French will be rounding out the action packed night, with special surprise collaborations.

ABOUT REDWOOD SON
Since being named “Best New Artist” at the 2011 Portland Music Awards, Redwood Son has done a great deal of growing up. The road will do that to a person, and with 60k miles under his belt over the past 3 years, you can see why there is a new found focus for 2015.

Heading into completion of a New Record, which is being Produced by Steve Berlin of the iconic band, Los Lobos, we are all kind of wondering what this sound and vibe will be like, regarding an artist that is no longer “New”. Fusing vintage tones with contemporary stylings, these songs promise to bring a more mature approach to some timeless folk tunes. Truth be told, you may even find a few dusts of country music in this new album, but that’s not a bad thing. Life brings tragedy, and those bleed feelings. Redwood Son is not one to run from the woes that come along from time to time, and he’s also not afraid to speak his mind about it.

Set to release on VINYL, in May of 2015, you can keep and eyes and ears open for some sneak peak singles and music videos in the meantime. The future is bright for this local old soul, who can now be considered a veteran of the regional Pacific Northwest music scene.

MBRASCATU

Mbrascatu is a fusion of the cobbled streets and cafés of the Old World and the creative melting pot of Portland. The band is a group of talented musicians that draw from very different musical backgrounds to create a unique blend of sounds encompassing European and American roots.

Since the formation of the band, back in 2010, Mbrascatu, has performed extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest delighting many at the hottest music venues, outdoor festivals, bars, clubs and local radio stations.

If you are not one of the lucky explorers who has already discovered the magic of this band's music, stop reading, hit play, and submerge yourself in the first song before reading any further. The band features impressive vocals, fantastic arrangments, making surprising use of banjo, ukelele, lap steel, viola, violin, bass, electric and acoustic guitar, and exhilarating drumming. The rhythm, which can be portentous, energetic and catchy, sometimes all at the same time, will get you dancing, the singing will resonate in your chest and the strings and drums will carry you away. Listen loud people!!

Acoustic Minds

Acoustic Minds or AM, is a Soul WOMP, Bass driven live EDM band.

AM is made up of twin sisters and lead vocalists, Amanda and Jenni Price, vocalist, producer and keyboardist Aaron Altemose and key bassist/producer Josh Lorenzen. The band's unique sound blends live electronic dance music with Pop, House, Trance, Dubstep, Hip-hop and RnB.

With their growing success over the past two years, the band opened for "The Voice" finalist, Judith Hill (who has performed alongside many legends, including Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, as well as her recent solo tour with Josh Groban) at Portland's iconic Crystal Ballroom.

Fairly young when compared to other EDM artists, AM is rich in experience. Each member has a long history in music. The twins have been singing together since the age of 3 and touring the country for the past decade with multiple international artists. Josh and Aaron have been playing music since their early teens, Aaron was signed to a label with his alt rock group LUX. Their collective history has given them the natural ability to produce some of the most unique and trendsetting sounds in the market today.

AM brings high energy, live EDM, laden with soulful, heart capturing vocals, laced with body moving, booty shaking beats. A constant inspiration, these musicians have followed their passions and stuck to the message in their hearts.
Empowering the feminine and honoring the masculine, together creating a musical blend of conscious high energy, deep soul, dance explosion!
We have a lot of fun in the process, and you can feel it in the music and see it in the smiles. We love to create connection and friendship with our audience, reflecting and integrating the love we feel for music and eachother.
Recently we had the honor of performing at Beloved's InspireTruth and brought in the New Years in style at the Portland Art Museum to a SOLD OUT crowd of 3,000 party people.
The twins have been touring and lending their angelic vocals with many greats; Lafa Taylor,
Jah Sun, and have spent years creating, collaborating and performing w/100's of artists all over the western seaboard.

Aaron graduated from Full Sail Music in 2005 with a degree as a recording engineer, his quick instincts and radio ready songwriting creates a dynamic blue print to the music while his beautiful voice soars. Josh has excelled in just a few short years from bass to key bass and production. With his gritty, space bass, womp generating the backbone of the music. The two of them teamed with Jenni, whose song writing and powerful voice have produced a fresh new approach to electronic music. Leading to incredible stories of love and loss, all while pumping up the power of the female entity and reminding us all to strive for greatness. Her twin Amanda brings a softer, intense flow to each song, singing lead or harmonies, the blend is something that only siblings can achieve.
