10th Annual Oregon Music Hall of Fame

The 10th Annual Oregon Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) Induction & Concert will be held on Saturday October 8th at 7pm at the Aladdin Theater. The concert will feature Duffy Bishop, one of Portland’s all-time favorite blues artist and one of this year’s Inductees.

Duffy moved top Portland in 1995 and quickly became one of the most popular blues performers in Oregon. Duffy has won the Cascade Blues Association’s Muddy Award for best female vocalist so many times they changed the name of the category to the “Duffy
Bishop Award”. Her recordings have been nominated and won Muddy Awards also.

Three of this year’s Inductees will show the true sense of a musical community. Fernando and his band will perform with guests Pete Krebs and Paul Brainard. Fernando is an Argentinian born musician who moved here from LA in 1994 and has been a staple of the alt-rock and Americana music scene. He has released 8 albums, all with a unique flair of evolvement. Pete Krebs started out playing in bands that regularly played Satyricon . His post-punk band Hazel was inducted into OMHOF in 2014. Since then Pete has been a musical chameleon diving into the sounds of Django Reinhardt, Boswell Sisters, honky-tonk and more. Paul Brainard is Portland’s go to guy if you need a pedal steel player and has played or recorded with a who’s who list of artists including the Dandy Warhols, Decemberists, Richmond Fontaine and even Kenny Rogers. A Brian Berg song, another of this year’s Inductees, will be performed in his honor.

Three Leg Torso, who share Album of the Year honors with Sleater-Kinney, will also perform. This band mixed elements of chamber music with sounds from around the world including Latin, Gypsy, Klezmer.

The event will feature a live auction of 15 autograph guitars including. Chicago, Ry Cooder, Culture Club, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Steve Miller and Weezer.

Proceeds from this event help support our music education and scholarship programs.

What is the Oregon Music Hall of Fame?

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) is a non-profit organization (501 c3) whose main purpose is to promote and preserve the musical arts of the state of Oregon.

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame is dedicated to the development, revitalization, invention and expansion of music education in Oregon’s public and private educational institutions. So far this year we have produced music education programs in Oregon public schools without music programs that have served over 5000 students. We also gave away four $2500 scholarships to high school seniors that were going on to further their music education at a higher level.

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame recognizes and promotes the legacy of exceptional Oregon musicians and will celebrate Oregon’s unique musical history by inducting musicians and other music heritage contributors into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. This year we will open a small museum that will highlight all the Inductees of OMHOF.

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame also promotes the music from current musicians of the state both on a local level as well as a national and international level.
