Daniel and Hanna Smith…

Allow me to introduce you to Daniel Vass/Barber/Smith…at least those are the names he is currently using, oh wait I forgot Curtis and Richard Barber. I have to wonder though since Barber is an ex-girlfriend’s ex-husband’s sir name if this low-class uncouth scum bucket whom TARGETS and cons young innocent women that are our country’s Military Vets and steals from their children, ya think Daniel is a closet homo or just one of those unscrupulous punks that enjoys targeting unsuspecting women? I think the former…Now Daniel is a real swell guy, he uses stories of his children having cancer to steal and embezzle monies from the unsuspecting. That little escapade got the attention of the folks in Alabama. So you have a guy that scams young women using children with cancer as an excuse to scam monies and not to pay the bills. When he uses up one woman he moves on to the next.
There is some information that, Detective Brian Ailey of Maryville TN is investigating Daniel. Perhaps he’ll include Hanna also as she is his sidekick and benefiting from the crimes he is committing…Oh crap, that makes her an accessory!!! Silly me…
Well here is how we got to Daniel. I started receiving emails about Smith Property Management and Hanna Smith. When I got the third email I figured there was some merit to what folks were stating in threads in the social media. So I called Hanna Smith.
Now due to the nature of things I will leave names out of this as I see absolutely no gain by using the people’s names that have been scammed by this creep. Now in Hanna’s defense she did offer conversation and justification for her actions of not paying one of the Contractors that contacted me. However, I now find that after 7 people have contacted with more expected to do so that Hanna was a little less than truthful. In addition I have several email exchanges between MCS, AFAS, and victims that do not support Hanna’s story to me.
Now what I’m sure Hanna does not know or care to comprehend is the fact that while he was courting her he was using his at the time girlfriends name and raiding her bank accounts. Destroying one business and moving on to the next, that is Daniel’s MO. Sorta sounds like the now disgraced former Secretary of NAMFS Heather Berghorst.
Now for those of you that are wondering about the back end of things???Smith Property Management is operating in TN, NC, GA, VA, MD…and maybe more. They have Lauden, 5 Brothers, Safeguard, MCS, AFAS as clients. OH…this may be thinking out loud, but don’t those companies demand Aspen Grove background checks??? Do any of these companies know??? OH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a matter of fact some have known for the past 120 days.

typical if the nitwits that work at SGP, as I have also been given comments along that nature when I have inquired about the same scenario’s. HEY KEVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Smith Property Management is not paying LABOR…they are not doing the work SOMEONE ELSE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

…. I took 3 jobs with him 2 were thru AFAS and 1 was MCS. He lied about the amount the jobs paid, once I had finished the MCS property in Kingston TN they deleted the pruvan direct acct they had set up for me and started ignoring all communication. He & Hanna advertise on craiglist sites. I posted a warning on craigslist about these thieves and several contractors contacted me with the same story as mine. Daniel Vass spent time in prison for embezzling money from ppl claiming his son was dying of cancer, not true he has no kids. He dated Jane Doe* owner of another PP Company* ran the same scam, took her money and ran off with Hanna. Opened up in Hanna’s name and at it again. I have text from these ppl dating back to Nov 8th claiming the check is in the mail, I have pictures Daniel sent me claiming his special needs son is in the hospital and not sure he’s gonna make it, again more lies he has no kids. Last week I received a check from Hanna Smith for $1,400 of course it was no good, as of 11/24/2014 bank notified me a stop payment was placed on the check. They owe me $2,500 total. FAS sent me a check for $960.40 on 11/28/2014 for the 2 jobs we completed on their property. Jane Doe* with FAS held their funds and placed a stop payment on their funds and paid us direct.

I have completed some work for Daniel. Still have a lot of monies due from him for completed work. Usually has good communication until the last week or so.
Have a friend that did work for him and all was good until my friend got his own contract. Daniel did know my friend had applications in with a couple of nationals but said he was ok with it. After my friend got his contract he claims Daniel basically stopped paying him. Believe he said he received 1 or 2 very small checks from him, no where near the amount owed. Also claims Daniel will not respond to any of his text or emails, or answer the phone.
Again, let state that is second hand information. My truck has broken down and I haven’t done any work for him in a week or so. Last couple of weeks before that I slowed my work load from him do to some things I was hearing.
I’m hoping what you are doing isn’t because of why I think you are doing it. I have been down that road before and couldn’t financially afford to go that way again.
So part of the MO folks is the “Gift of Gab”.
This is just a preliminary report on this individual and his most recent squeeze Hanna Smith the owner of Smith Property management, a company with no website and not properly licensed to conduct business in the states they are operating in, that information is by Hanna’s own admission.
In the past I have chronicled how one could net over a million dollars in a very short period of time in this industry…in a quick review of the activity today these two characters have stolen well into the six figure range. With the numbers still climbing there is no telling just how much Daniel and Hanna have defrauded Military Vets, innocent women, how many meals one of these women has not been able to put on the table for her kids.

Folks in closing allow me to say this….This an area that the International Association of Field Service Technicians will be able to help. As Labor starts to come together companies and creeps like this will not be able to conduct business.
