Maintaining the appearance and health of your man made pond can require very little work as long as you are consistent about the maintenance. I learned my lesson the hard way about procrastinating when it came to the maintenance of the pond in my back yard. I figured that it might naturally take care of itself, however it is a man made structure so I should have known better. After putting off the cleaning and other maintenance of the pond for many months, I finally realized that I was going to have to put some work in to my pond if I was going to get things back on track.
When I first moved in to my home, the small pond in the back yard was one of the things that had attracted me the most to buying the home. It wasn’t in the best shape but I was willing to put in some work to get it to the point that I wanted it to be. I hired a company called Purely Ponds to help me install a pond fountain and to get the pond in to great working order. After they had completed their work I was very happy with the results, but I didn’t do the best job of maintaining the positive results that their hard work had given me. Now I have come to the point where I am going to have to buy a new pond pump because I had so badly neglected cleaning and caring for the original one that was installed. If I had been on top of things and cleaned the pond pump more regularly, I wouldn’t have found myself in this position.
I bought the new pond pump as well as some other pond supplies to get my pond back on the right track. I can’t take all the credit for myself because I did recruit some friends to help me with the work, however I am very happy with the results. My pond looks even better now that it did before with the addition of some new plants and large stones around the perimeter of the pond. It ended up being quite a big project but I am very happy that I took it on. I have definitely learned my lesson about maintaining the proper functioning of my pond in order to avoid another big project such as this in the near future. I think that my pond brings a lot of character and beauty to the landscaping of my back yard and I believe that it is very much worth the amount of time and money that I have had to put towards it. The pond and fountain create a very serene and calming environment, and I feel like it is my own personal slice of paradise each time I walk in to my back yard and can see the fountain in the small pond. My friends are always commenting about how great it looks and how much they enjoy the beauty of my back yard when they join me for barbecues in the summer.
