McLanahan Corp. hosted its first Frac Sand Processing School in Eau Claire, Wis., on March 30. The day featured three sessions from McLanahan, including presentations on wet frac sand processing, water management, and plant and equipment maintenance. Each session focused on equipment that will maximize production and help ensure sites are meeting the tight requirements needed in frac sand specifications. Over 60 people, with job responsibilities ranging from plant maintenance to design engineers, attended the one-day event. McLanahan plans to host future frac sand schools, as well as schools on topics such as water management, throughout the country in coming months. The Volvo Group is sponsoring the Ocean Summit on Marine Debris during the Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Newport, R.I., in an effort to raise awareness about the global problem of marine debris. The summit will take place May 15. The event is also being sponsored by The Embassy of Sweden, the U.S. State Department, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sail Newport, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and operating affordable public sailing instruction and attracting new sailors to the sport.



The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) published the 7th Edition Belt Conveyors for Bulk Materials, which features 100 more pages to accommodate new additions, and a change in format with imperial and metric units in the text, figures, and tables.
