- Former Executive Vice President of Publishing at Electronic Arts (EA), Mr. Gerhard Florin presented for election as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Funcom NV -
Durham, USA – May 18th, 2011 – The Supervisory Board of Funcom is pleased to present Mr. Gerhard Florin for election as Chairman of the Board for Funcom NV. (See Convening Notice for General Assembly on June 27th). The Supervisory Board is of the opinion that Mr. Florin will contribute significantly to extending Funcom's strategic and business competence in the gaming segment and that he will make important contributions to the future development of the Company both in strategy, operations, marketing and sales.
Mr. Gerhard Florin held the position as Executive Vice President of Publishing for Electronic Arts (EA) from 2006 until the end of 2010. In this position, Mr. Florin led and supervised all of EA's publishing activities and was also part of EA's top management group.
From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Florin served as Senior Vice President, responsible for Electronic Arts’ European international publishing business, based in London. From 1996 to 2000 he served as Vice President and General Manager for the German-speaking region of Electronic Arts’ business, based in Cologne. Prior to joining Electronic Arts, he held various positions at BMG, the global music division of Bertelsmann AG, and served as a Consultant of McKinsey.
Mr. Florin holds Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Augsburg, Germany. Mr. Florin presently does not hold any shares in the capital of Funcom N.V.
The term of appointment of the new Supervisory Director (commissaries) shall expire at the end of the annual general meeting of Funcom N.V. to be held in the year 2013.
Long-term Supervisory Board member Frank Sagnier will at the same time get a broader role in the company and transfer to the Management Board, where his insight and competence from many years as head of EA online publishing in EU will contribute to reaching the strategic goals of the company. Mr. Sagnier will focus primarily on the Free-to-Play initiatives of the Company.
The current Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Torleif Ahlsand, will continue his work for Funcom in the capacity as Vice President of the Supervisory Board.
