Institutional budgets will increase by 1.4% in 2016, says PCG Library Budget Survey

KnowledgeSpeak reports that “results of the 2016 Library Budget Predictions survey, research carried out annually by Ingenta’s publishing consultancy arm, Publishers Communication Group (PCG), have been released, stating that institutional library budgets across the globe will increase by 1.4 percent overall this year. Despite the rise in library budgets overall, the mature markets measured in the survey show very limited expansion…”

Elsevier acquires Social Science Research Network

Research Information reports that “Elsevier has acquired the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). Founded in 1994, SSRN is a Rochester, NY-based scholarly research preprint repository and online community. SSRN will be further developed alongside Mendeley, a London-based free reference manager and scholarly collaboration network owned by Elsevier.

ARL+DLF Forum 2016 Fellowships Available—Apply by June 13

This year, the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and Digital Library Federation (DLF) will again sponsor a number of fellowship and travel awards meant to foster a more diverse and inclusive practitioner community in digital libraries and related fields.

ARL+DLF Forum Fellowships are designed to offset or completely cover travel and lodging expenses associated with attending the annual DLF Forum, which will be held November 7–9, 2016, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. ARL+DLF Forum Fellows additionally receive a complimentary full registration to the forum (up to a $750 value) and an invitation to special networking events. Fellows will be required to write a blog post about their experiences at the forum, to be published by the DLF and shared in ARL news venues.

ACI Scholarly Blog Index Named SIIA 2016 CODiE Award
