Ferguson Activist Darren Seals Found Brutally Murdered After Being Threatened By Cops

AFRICANGLOBE – On Tuesday, the police accountability movement was dealt a saddening blow after receiving news Ferguson activist Darren Seals had died. This sad news was then compounded when it was discovered that the 29-year-old was murdered — found shot inside a burning car.

Seals was unafraid of standing up for what he believed. He was shunned by members of the Black Lives Matter movement for calling out their takeover of Ferguson protesters and exposing their corporate ties. But he remained vigilant and spoke truth to all power.

He was an outspoken supporter of Colin Kaepernick as well and tweeted about him on the day before he was killed. It would be his last tweet.

Seals was known for shattering the left/right paradigm, noting that local Democrats and President Barack, hadn’t done enough to fix the issues affecting the Black community.

“To this day, in seven or eight years, we haven’t seen any significant difference in the Black community,” he told the Washington Post in October 2014. “In fact, it feels like it’s getting worse.”

“Just because they’ve got the D next to their name, that don’t mean nothing. The world is watching us right now. It’s time to send a message of our power,” Seals told the Post. “We aren’t asking you to perform miracles. We just want you to do the job you are supposed to do.”

Since becoming well known in the police accountability movement after Darren Wilson killed Mike Brown in Ferguson, Seal remained outspoken until he was violently silenced this week.

“(Seals) was a young man who cared deeply and passionately about his community,” said local attorney and political analyst Lizz Brown. “Whether he was paying for Christmas gifts for the kids in the neighborhood or organizing young people. He will be missed.”

Seals’ body was discovered Tuesday morning when authorities were called to a report of a burning vehicle. Once the fire was extinguished, police discovered his body inside and then realized he’d been shot, according to county police spokesman Officer Benjamin Granda

According to police, they have no leads, no potential suspects and they are asking anyone with information on the murder to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-8477. They can also call county police at 314-615-5400.

“We are working with potential witnesses and doing everything we can, the same as we do in every case,” Granda said, adding that police had no suspects. “We need the community’s help on this.”

What makes this case even more suspicious is the fact that just weeks ago, Seals took to Twitter to expose how he’d been threatened by multiple cops for his activism.

In July, Seals tweeted that he and his 14-year-old brother were pulled over at gunpoint by police who warned him to “choose your enemies wisely.”

According to Granda, he claims he’s never heard anything about this alleged stop. But this certainly doesn’t mean it did not happen.

While this information doesn’t explicitly expose evidence of a crime, it should not be ignored. As police look for suspects in the death of a man loved by his community, it appears that the only ‘enemies’ Seals had in the area — were police.
