Day 3: KAFUE RIVER - ZAMBIA [camping BLD]

A long drive on day three takes us across the forested Miombo hills in southern Zambia and on to the Kafue River where we will camp for the night.

Day 4 - 5: CANOEING ON LOWER ZAMBEZI - ZAMBIA [lodge BLD]

We drive down into the Lower Zambezi Valley and spend two nights at our lodge on the banks of the river.

Enjoy a full day canoeing down the Zambezi River, home of the tribal mythical god - Nyami Nyami. The river attracts elephants and other wildlife from the surrounding wilderness.

After a day highlighted by bird watching and game viewing, relax around the campfire in the evening. Lodge accommodation is in twin rooms with en-suite facilities, a swimming pool and bar.

Day 6: LUSAKA TO LUANGWA RIVER - ZAMBIA [camping BLD]

We head to the Zambian capital of Lusaka where we stock up on supplies in the bustling shops and markets.

We then head out along the great East Road  arriving at our camp on the banks of the Luangwa River at sunset.

Our overnight stay is at a campsite with good ablution facilities, hot showers, a swimming pool and bar.

Day 7, 8, 9: SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK - ZAMBIA [camping BLD]

Make our way down into "the valley" of the Luangwa River. South Luangwa National Park is wild and remote. It has an abundance of wildlife that is rarely seen in other game reserves and is one of Africa's finest wildlife sanctuaries, full of hippo, crocodiles, elephants, lion and leopard.

We camp on the banks of the Luangwa River and explore the area on two game walks and an open 4X4 night drive, with spotlights, to see nocturnal animals.

In the rainy season (December to April) bush walks may not be possible, due to tall grasses and muddy conditions. Also if visibility is poor, walking in the bush can be potentially dangerous, in addition to being messy. When conditions are not suitable for walking, we will take game drives instead.

The camp we stay at is run by the Wildlife Environmental and Conservation society of Zambia and donate 60% of their proceeds towards the education of Zambian children.

The campsite features good ablution facilities, hot showers, a swimming pool, restaurant and bar.

Day 10 - 11: LAKE MALAWI, CAPE MACLEAR - MALAWI [camping BLD]

On day 10 of the Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique & Kruger Safari we head into Malawi, "the warm heart of Africa". We make our way to Lilongwe where we stock up on fresh supplies at the local markets before continuing to our camp on one of Lake Malawi's beaches.

We'll camp on the beach at Cape Maclear in the Lake Malawi National Park, a World Heritage Site, overlooking the beautiful, scattered islands.

At Lake Malawi we'll take a boat trip out to the islands to explore the fantastic bays and coves in the area. We also go snorkelling around the island at Otter Point to see the colourful endemic fish.

Day 12 - 13: LAKE MALAWI TO MOZAMBIQUE [camping BLD]

Heading south again we enter Mozambique at the Zobue border post.

We cross back over the Zambezi travelling through the Tete region, camping en route in this remote part of Mozambique.

Day 14 - 15: BAZARUTO ISLANDS - MOZAMBIQUE [accommodated Bx2 Lx2 Dx1]

Upon reaching the Indian Ocean we spend two nights in Vilankulo. We take a full day to explore the Magaruque Island of the Bazaruto Archipelago on a local dhow, a traditional ocean going trade vessel.

Beautiful blue sea, expansive white beaches and some excellent seafood available – what a day!

Our accommodation in Vilankulo is in twin-share chalets, called casitas, sharing ablutions fitted with hot showers. The lodge features a swimming pool, restaurant and bar.

Day 16 - 17: INHAMBANE - MOZAMBIQUE [camping Bx2 Lx2 Dx1]

Arab influences are strong in Inhambane dating back to when slaves, ivory, gold and spices were traded.

Explore Inhambane and its 200-year-old cathedral, before moving to Praia de Barra to our casitas (reed cabin) under the palms next to the beach. Dhow rides and scuba diving on coral reefs are available (own expense).

Day 18:  BILENE - MOZAMBIQUE [camping BL]

We travel further south along the coast to the town of Bilene situated on the shores of the Uembje lagoon.

The lagoon is 8km wide and 27km long with clear water and white, sandy beaches. We spend the afternoon exploring the lagoon with options of kayaking and snorkelling (own expense), and swimming in the shallow, calm waters.

Our overnight campsite has good ablution facilities with hot showers, as well as a swimming pool, restaurant, bar and shop.

Day 19 - 20: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK - SOUTH AFRICA [camping BLD]

Today we cross into South Africa entering the greater Kruger National Park and Transfrontier Limpopo Park - big game country!

You have the option of taking a night game drive in Kruger National Park game viewing vehicles at extra cost.

Day 21: JOHANNESBURG [B]

After an early morning game drive in Kruger Park we return to Johannesburg in the evening, sun-tanned, laid-back and ready to rejoin life.

The memorable Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique & Kruger Safari comes to an end at 18:00.

Please Note:

We also offer a shorter Zambia and Malawi Safari form Livingstone to Lilongwe.
