LOL! Okay you guys, like any other publisher and blogger, I receive tons of emails. I may not get to it right away, but I eventually do. Also, since I only write on things I am passionate about, there is a high probability that I tend to be more hyper focused and pay attention to details so if you are trying to pull a quiet or fast one, probability is I will catch the details.
I was receiving emails from a certain name that used to be with Iroking and I know for a fact moved on with Michael Ugwu and was involved in the whole drama just some weeks ago. Every time I would receive an email from this person, my mind would say okay, isn’t this person with IROKing? I know this name. Finally, I just clicked through and yes it was the same person, but this time, with Free Me Digital, a new digital distributor in the market place.
Ever curious, I go digging to see what this company is about. What they are doing is nothing new on the Western market front but is GREAT (and new) for Nigeria and Africa’s market. I look carefully through everything and I can see Michael Ugwu’s hands all over the project. I look at all their social media sites and it correlates with dates of the whole IROKing drama. I see our artists endorsing the platform, including Don Jazzy. I know IROKing is having to renew many of its licenses in 2014 with many of our artists and given the whole Iroking drama,
I doubt many want to continue with Iroking.
Anyway, I send an email to this person. Usually, I would get a really quick response. Well, no answer yet, albeit my email was very recent.
This person is one of Ugwu’s right hand man and close confidante. The only logical inference based on all of the facts is that this is Ugwu’s project. So, I will take the risk of being wrong and having to stand corrected by saying this is Michael Ugwu’s project and I see why Jason Njoku of IROKO Partners was really afraid and sent out the release he did.
I like everything I am seeing on the site, everything so far.
It is about to get really interesting and I would like to know your thoughts.
AML artists, digital distributors et al. say HELLO to Nigeria’s newest digital distributor. Even the name sef is cool. FREE ME digital.
Cheers,
Uduak
