Thirty-two African teams will continue with their quest to be amongst the 15 teams that will join host Morocco at next year’s CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The top two sides from the seven groups will be guaranteed automatic qualification and they will also be joined by one best third-placed side.

With three rounds of matches left to play, defending champions Nigeria are in danger of missing the cut after failing to win any of their first three matches while Algeria are on the verge of securing their qualification with three wins out of three games.

All matches will be played on Wednesday.

Nigeria will have to bounce back from defeat in a big way when they host Sudan in Abuja. The Super Eagles are at the bottom of the group with one point after suffering a second shock loss, going down 1-0 to Sudan in Khartoum and know that anything less than maximum points will decrease their chances of defending their title in Morocco.

Log leaders South Africa will look to extend their one point lead over Congo when the two sides meet in Polokwane. Bafana Bafana defeated the Red Devils 2-0 in Pointe-Noire over the weekend and will remain at the top of the table if they avoid defeat at home.

Seven-time African champions, Egypt, gave themselves a lifeline when they defeated Botswana in Gaborone to register their first points after starting the campaign with back-to-back losses. The Pharaohs will be aiming for a similar result in Cairo to stay within reach of the top two clubs.

Senegal and Tunisia both dropped points for the first time this past weekend when they played to a 0-0 draw in Dakar. A similar result would leave the two sides in the top half but their second meeting in Monastir is likely to produce goals.
