Role Summary/Purpose:
The SSA O&G Channel Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the indirect distribution strategy for the O&G business in the region.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and manage alternate distribution channels in line with the business growth strategy for the O&G platforms. This will include the identification of best practices for defining an indirect distribution strategy, selection of the appropriate partners, performance measurement and management of the channel partners, and ensuring Legal and GE Spirit & Letter Compliance. Drive Commercial Excellence Goals & Objectives, and implement key performance metrics and scorecards for business process simplification and commercial excellence.
In addition:
- The SSA O&G Channel Leader will work with diverse teams across the region, managing through a matrix structure, and will require
strong analytical skills, process and project management, combined with well-developed indirect team leadership and influencing
skills
- Develop and implement a sales plan for assigned channel / distributors aimed at achieving and exceeding our financial
commitments to the business
- Identify partners and develop relationships for maximum impact
- Regularly review channel portfolio to ensure top performers are identified and managed for growth, non-performers are identified and
place on performance improvements plans/terminated
- Actively manage with Regional and P&L support the relationship with the assigned distributors to ensure alignment with team and
company objectives
- Provide channels and sales managers with the support, training, and information needed to ensure c effectiveness
- Maintain a high level of technical and commercial competence on all O&G product modalities
- Prepare and participate in business reviews / forecasts with senior leadership to ensure a constant flow of accurate information
between Channel / Distributors and the company
- Maintain an awareness of competitor activities and developments and ensure that this information is collected and made available to
senior leadership
- Develop a comprehensive communication strategy leveraging tools driving consistent transparency within our global partners
- Drive Commercial efficiency and effectiveness with our channels via solid tools strategy
- Continue to develop a complimentary e-commerce strategy plus other strategies which will complement our existing channel partners
- Work with HQ Channel Management team to implement best practices from global channel management.
- Work with the Channel Comm Ops team to ensure speedy and compliant onboarding of Channel Partners
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or similar fields
- Minimum of 10 years in sales management and/or operations roles
- An understanding of and experience in conducting business in Sub-Sahara Africa
- Oil and Gas experience
- Industrial experience in heavy manufacturing or power generation
- A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required.
- Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria

- Fluency in English language – both written and verbal
- Ability to speak French, Portuguese or Spanish in addition to English would be an added advantage
