The Butterfly Art Project (BAP) is a nonprofit organisation that offers art lessons, art therapy and educational programmes to children and adults in the Vygrond community. BAP has a core group of staff and volunteers working in various roles.

BAP seeks to appoint an Operations Manager, based in Cape Town.

The person will assist with the overall running of the project work, implementing the aims of BAP, in conjunction with the Director. The successful candidate will start work in January 2014.

Suitably qualified individuals with South African nationality or permit to work in South Africa are invited to apply.

Responsibilities:

Staff and daily operation of BAP
Ensure staff performance of responsibilities and duties are carried out;
Supervise 4 different professional teams and their bookkeeping;
Hold weekly team meetings;
Provide supervision to core staff members;
Source and maintain consumable stock for program delivery;
Oversee non-consumable stock, maintenance of facility and furniture, cleaning of facility, gardening, incoming in-kind donations;
Additional day-to-day practical management and other duties as may be required from time to time.
Management of BAP correspondence
Respond to incoming email and new applications;
Manage feedback to donors, sponsors and supporters;
Management of social media publicity with help of volunteers: website, newsletter, Facebook, Betterplace, etc;
Oversee see writing and design of annual report for BAP;
Manage community liaison.
Fundraising for BAP
Planning of fundraising events;
Research and initiating communication with potential funders;
Writing of funding proposals and preparing budgets;
Maintaining relationships/communication with donors.
Bookkeeping for BAP
Responsible for petty cash;
Collecting and filing of invoices;
Running of management accounts;
Working with external auditors.
