POSITION SUMMARY
With the dynamic transformation of the healthcare industry, Aetna seeks talent to drive strategy based on insights. The Senior Researcher plays a key role on the Market & Customer Insight team with the following mission: Passionately represent customer interests to drive Aetna’s growth through:

- Promoting customer “truths” to shape business priorities and strategies, and
- Ensuring decision-makers are connected to customers in the context of the market environment and competition.

The Senior Researcher, reporting to Market Research Director, is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of insights development for specific business areas/programs; clarifying business issues, proposing a research solution to address the business questions, managing external research partners, analyzing results, and communicating insights in an impactful, relevant manner. The individual will help define the learning agenda and prioritize research for the assigned business group(s). Key responsibilities include:

- Manage end-to-end process of insights development
- Handle day-to-day project management
- Provide actionable insights through individual projects and consolidate learning to identify common themes across projects/data sources to begin to generate comprehensive insights
- Work effectively with key business group(s) as insight consultant, participating in strategic, business discussions.
- Work effectively with external research companies, leveraging their resources and expertise. Educate research partners on business issues and needs so they can optimize contribution.
- Work with research partners to create deliverables which meet needs of Aetna stakeholders and senior management when needed, and help drive business decision-making.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in related field (i.e. MBA) preferred
- 7-10 years of experience in primary research role, either on client side or in an account management role at an agency or research supplier.
- Proven track-record of career progression focused on insight development and delivery.
- Extensive quantitative research experience including satisfaction tracking, brand tracking, customer experience, new product development, social media/digital analysis, and/or segmentation.
- Understanding of all forms of qualitative research approaches.
- Deep knowledge of current research practices as well as new, innovative research techniques
- Consumer research experience is required, Business-to-Business (B2B) research experience desirable.
- Brand, advertising, digital, and social research is required
- Health industry experience is a plus, but not mandatory
- Good understanding of various types of statistical analysis and their application to business issues
- Strong analytic and data interpretation skills in a commercial environment
