GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for developing and implementing the sales and marketing for Medicare. This position is directly accountable for program-wide sales and retention in a defined service area. Responsible for driving and achieving company defined sales objectives. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements comprehensive, integrated sales and marketing plans to meet the overall business objectives for group and individual sales and membership retention. These plans will include advertising, direct mail, product enhancement and development, benefit design, and sales and account management strategies and processes. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Leads a team of sales managers to achieve sales and marketing objectives.
- Evaluates the selling and account management processes to ensure growth targets are met.
- Leads and directs the sales planning efforts to include analyses of competitive products and services, support activities, advertising strategies, market size and potential, short and long term growth forecast, and account management and sales processes and techniques.
- In collaboration with Medicare leadership, develops strategies for improving customer service, retention, creating growth opportunities and growth among current group accounts.
- Represents the company as a spokesperson when addressing key organizations. Builds proactive community relationships.
- Recruits, develops, and motivates staff. Initiates and communicates a variety of personnel actions including employment, termination, performance reviews, salary reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Prepares the sales budget, monitors spending levels, and takes corrective action as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
- Appropriate state licensure to sell insurance required (MO, KS, OK, AR).
- Thorough understanding of Medicare marketing and sales principles and techniques, previous experience in product management, particularly pertaining to individual and group products.
- Previous (7-10 years) experience in marketing, and direct sales, and product management within the HMO/health care or insurance industry. At least 5 years of experience in a management role.
