POSITION SUMMARY
This is an AZ office based position reporting to the Manager of Business Information Services - Operational Data Services, this individual is a specialist in database and application development. He/she is responsible for the prototyping, design, development and maintenance of enterprise-wide operational applications and databases. This individual is a technical specialist applying professional expertise directly to programmatic constructs and development systems. Incumbent organizes, directs and independently manages multiple project efforts. He/she delivers operational and reporting business solutions through the use of information technologies and a rapid application development lifecycle maximizing the benefits derived from the company's information assets while at the same time ensuring integrity. This position requires an understanding of claims knowledge, healthcare principles, and coding ability.

EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

Project Management
- Manage and direct multiple project efforts
- Follow System Development Methodology guidelines to manage and execute project activities
- Monitor and communicate project status and schedules to appropriate levels of management
- Manage and resolve project issues

Database Developer
- Design, create, implement and manage physical data structures (SQL Server)
- Perform data mapping and process modeling across multiple systems
- Analyze business requirements to be incorporated in the architecture and design of database solutions
- Perform systems analysis and design in the data tier by using relational, dimensional and/or object modeling
- Import, export and transform data from databases
- Optimize SQL code for performance
- Develop stored procedures and SSIS packages as required

Business Analyst
- Analyze complex business needs, consulting with business partners to determine requirements
- Analyze and assist in determining appropriate solutions to meet business needs through the application of technology
- Identify alternatives based on business needs and develop design specifications for recommended solutions
- Program and maintain complex databases, spreadsheets, and other analytical tools
- Interpret and process financial, operational, and medical management data

Knowledge and Skills Qualifications
- Extensive database experience with MS SQL Server 2008R2
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is desired
- Working technical knowledge of VBA/VB Script/VB .Net a plus
- Knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling and related tools required
- Extensive Microsoft experience with core software applications, including Word, Excel, Access and Project
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- A team player exhibiting effective inter-personal skills and a collaborative management style
- Strong Project Management skills

Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or related field
- 7+ years professional experience in information technology, financial analysis or healthcare informatics
- 1+ years recent experience in healthcare / managed care strongly preferred
- Experience in systems analysis and design; systems development life cycle methodology, development tools and relational databases is critical
