POSITION SUMMARY
This role will be responsible for designing, building and Productionalizing data science projects. This requires a broad knowledge and experience in Hadoop platform, machine learning algorithms, software development and tools, and programming in Python or Scala or Java.

o Unix and Scripting:
Working knowledge on any Unix platform, Unix commands and utilities (CRON, Awk, Sed, etc.)
Experience with scripting tools such as bash shell scripts, Python, R
o Programming Background
SQL
One of the following: Python or Java or Scala
If Python, familiarity in Pandas, NumPy, SciKit Learn
R and modeling with R.
o Hadoop:
Hadoop Architecture, HDFS commands
Knowledge in Spark
Experience designing & optimizing queries against data in the HDFS environment using Apache Hive and implement UDFs.
Experience implementing data transformation and processing solutions using Apache Pig.
Hadoop streaming
Pig - UDFs, Pig Streaming
o Knowledge in implementing following Machine Learning Algorithms either using Python or R

o Experience or familiarity in agile software development, Continuous Integration
Git version control
JIRA for bug tracking and agile project management

Optional:
o Spark - SparkSQL, SparkML, Rspark (optional)
Statistical tools like SAS
NoSQL databases (Mark Logic, MongoDB, Cassandra or HBase)
Visualization BI tools like Tableau
ETL Tools like Talend, Data Stage or Ab Initio
Analytical databases - Netezza
Cloud computing background.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
You should enjoy programming.
Experience processing large amounts of data. MapReduce experience is a plus.
Programming knowledge to clean and scrub noisy data.
Should be communicative

EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Master's degree.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
About the Role and Responsibilities:
It is a technical role with good knowledge in Data technologies.
Responsible gathering, cleansing, and validating raw data through scripts (SQL, Shell, Python, Tools, etc.) calling APIs
Interface closely with data infrastructure (or platform) teams.
Collaborate with Platform engineers in accessing using Hadoop cluster and its ecosystem.
Collaborate with all data teams in transforming data, and integrating algorithms and models into production system.
Preferred to have a Master's degree in Computer Science or Software engineering or electrical engineering or relevant experience for reasonable number of years.
Knowledge in statistics and algorithms is a must
Project management skills is a plus.
Having worked in projects using agile methodologies is preferred.
Good communication skills (written and oral) are necessary.
Ability to perform technology and product research, evaluate, and recommend.

About you
You should be passionate about data, enjoy working with data, and have foundation in database systems.
You should like to experiment, play and explore tools, curious what is happening in this field, attend meet ups, participate in data hackathons, attend conferences.
