There is a new number one in men’s basketball and that would be Arizona, who Duke lost to in the NIT Season Tip-Off final. The Wildcats received all but two votes in both polls. Michigan State, who lost to North Carolina, dropped to fifth in both polls. Syracuse jumped to number two in the AP Poll and received the two first place votes. They are number three in the USA Today Coaches Poll and received one first place vote. Ohio State is number two in the Coaches Poll and received one first place vote, while they are number three in the AP Poll.

Duke remained at number seven in the USA Today Coaches Poll and eighth in the AP Poll.

The ACC has three total teams ranked, including Syracuse and the Blue Devils. UNC is the other ranked team. The Tarheels come in at 18 in the AP Poll and number 21 in the Coaches Poll.

The Blue Devils return to action after taking exams on December 16th at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Gardner-Webb.

 

The Duke women’s basketball team remains the number two team in the country at 10-0 behind unanimous number one UConn. After a week off for exams, the two teams meet as part of the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday, December 17th at 7pm ET on ESPN. The game will be played at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

There are five ACC teams ranked, including the Blue Devils. Notre Dame comes in at number four at 8-0. Maryland is still in the top ten at number eight (8-1). North Carolina is ranked 15th at 7-2 and Syracuse rounds out the top 25 at number 25 (8-1).

Florida State just missed the top 25 and Georgia Tech also received votes.
