On Aug. 21, members of the Northrop Grumman Azusa, Calif., chapter of Adelante, an Employee Resource Group, donated 859 pencil boxes filled with erasers, pencils, crayons, rulers and other school supplies for every student at two local elementary schools in the Azusa Unified School District. Northrop Grumman’s Azusa, Calif., campus recently concluded its fourth annual pencil box drive to benefit two schools in the Azusa Unified School District, Mountain View Elementary and Paramount Elementary. A total of 859 pencil boxes were filled with essential school supplies.

“Employees at the Azusa campus exemplify Northrop Grumman’s commitment to our local communities,” said Anne Ostroff, vice president of Northrop Grumman’s Azusa Operations. “Through hard work and generosity, students at both elementary schools received new pencils, crayons, rulers and many other basic school supplies.”

“We at Paramount Elementary School feel honored to receive this generous donation from Northrop Grumman,” said Robert Allard, principal of Paramount Elementary. “The supplies donated for every student will ensure all of our students have the tools they need to help them be successful. The joy it brought to each student was obvious from the big smiles on their faces. We would like to thank each and every person for their kindness and support.”

“As always, the staff, students and parents at Mountain View Elementary are grateful for Northrop Grumman’s generosity,” said Jennifer Romero, principal of Mountain View Elementary. “The pencil boxes that are donated help to support the academic success of our students. Every little bit helps and the students were excited to get essential supplies to help them in the classroom and at home. I would like to thank all who helped, whether monetarily or by putting the boxes together, to support our students here at Mountain View Elementary.”

The school supply drive was coordinated by Adelante, an all-inclusive Hispanic employee resource group at Northrop Grumman that is committed to fostering leadership through networking, professional development and community outreach.
