The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP), Glenwood Springs, Colo. and the American Rental Association (ARA), Moline, Ill., have formed a partnership agreement to cooperate as organizations in the areas of information exchange, education/training opportunities or research initiatives that are appropriate for their respective members.

AEMP and ARA are well recognized organizations in the construction industry, both serving diverse memberships.  Leaders of the organizations recently met to identify where cooperative efforts could further their role in industry education and best business practices.

“Equipment fleet management is a key element to running a profitable equipment rental business and AEMP has excellent education, certification programs, and conferences that provide  quality professional development for equipment management professionals.  The AEM / AEMP Telematics Standard is a great example where they’ve focused on creating industry technology standards that can advance efficiencies in ARA member fleets,” says Christine Wehrman, executive vice president and CEO for the American Rental Association.

“This working relationship makes sense for ARA as we continue to provide meaningful business information to our members,” says Wehrman.

AEMP and ARA will strengthen one another’s programs by providing recommended topics or speakers for their respective annual conferences and acknowledge subject matter or recommend experts for articles or communication pieces for use by the organizations.

Appropriate industry research will be identified and implemented by the organizations as they continue their collaboration.

“AEMP’s certification tracks, specifically the AEMP Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) certification, is a perfect fit for ARA’s members who are managing l heavy equipment rental fleets.   Over the years, we’ve witnessed an increasing number of professionals from the heavy equipment rental industry attending AEMP’s Annual Conference and Fall Asset Management Symposium and expect that trend to continue.  Our two organizations have a shared value of highly educated individuals for the equipment management profession.  This partnership with ARA is an exciting one and we look forward to many years of collaboration,” says Stan Orr, CAE, AEMP president and chief strategy officer.

The two organizations are committed to an ongoing working relationship that recognizes the importance of each organization within the business of their membership.
