You may only get married once, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t keep re-living your wedding day over and over again. Whether you’ve been married for one year or 30 years, vow renewals are a special way to remind your other half how much you love and care for them. If you would like to renew your vows again in front of family and friends, here’s the lowdown on the details:

Choose a host

Much like a wedding, you can choose who hosts this event. However, it’s traditionally the couple who puts together the vow renewals. You could also consider passing down the duties to your children, if you have them.

Opt for a meaningful location

While you don’t have to renew your vows in the same place that you tied the knot, you can choose a location that has special meaning for both of you. For instance, arrange for the vow renewal ceremony to take place at your honeymoon location, in a place of worship, or maybe where you and your other half had your first date as a married couple. Wherever it is, make sure that the place you choose has sentimental value – it will make the event all the more special.

Decide who to invite

Your vow renewal ceremony can be as large or as small as you would like it. You can choose to invite only your close friends and family, or you can open up the event to a larger group of people for a big celebration. No matter how many people you invite, you’ll have to send out invitations prior to the date. On the invitations, make sure to note that gifts are not expected. This event is purely celebratory and you should let your guests know that they won’t have to bring anything.

Make new memories

You can certainly incorporate elements from your nuptials, like using the same stationery as your wedding invitations or wearing the exact dress that you wore down the aisle. But you should also take this opportunity to make new memories with your spouse. Opt for different flowers or march down the aisle to a different tune – it’s up to you!

Hire a photographer

A vow renewal can be just as special as your wedding, and you’ll be glad that you have pictures of the event to look back on years from now. If you don’t want to splurge on a photographer, ask a friend who’s savvy with a camera to take pictures for you.
