ADOTAS — Recent studies have shown that the demand for quality online video content has far outpaced supply. But now a startup subscription video platform is looking to help small business owners bridge that gap quickly and inexpensively.

VideoFort launched on May 21, 2013, positioning itself as the first all-HD and Ultra HD stock footage library. VideoFort built its expansive stock video platform of nearly 100,000 HD video clips to accept and distribute Ultra HD 4k footage. Subscriptions to VideoFort start as low as $19 per month, and include free editing, visual effects tutorials and a creative forum where video producers can collaborate and interact. Members gain unlimited access to exclusive content, including hundreds of hours of aerial footage.

“The offer in itself is pretty cool, and the quality of HD and Ultra HD 4K video content VideoFort members can now access is unprecedented,” said Steve Gatena (pictured), VideoFort’s founder & president, in a press release.

Gatena was previously the CEO and co-founder of REP Interactive, an award-winning digital media company specializing in creating broadcast TV commercials, corporate videos and web series. His résumé also includes a 6-month stint with MTV News & Docs.

According to a press release announcing the company’s launch, the tech supporting VideoFort is built by Amazon.

“With Amazon’s new suite of web services, we have all of the tools we need to automate processes and operate our stock footage company remotely,” said Gatena. “We have unlimited storage and unlimited computing power at our fingertips. We can optimize the user experience based on our visitor’s location. Everything is open source. It’s the most ideal technology for our business.”

Gatena said VideoFort offers the same type of high-quality stock footage that is used in TV sitcoms and cable television dramas.

“All the opening scenes start with an ‘establishing shot,’ showing the city, town, or block where the scene takes place,” he said. “A restaurant or local organization can do the same, using VideoFort HD stock footage. If you are a small Los Angeles bakery, [you can] open your small business video with some nice shots of your city. Hot New York city restaurants can now promote their eating establishment with high quality stock footage of their local neighborhood.”

In addition to small businesses, Gatena notes that his new platform is also a great fit for nonprofits.

“With VideoFort HD stock footage, the local church has the same marketing tools as the Red Cross,” he said. “Philanthropic efforts can now be better conveyed by using our HD video clips. When you combine voiceover narration with amazing HD video clips, your Sunday services can have a much stronger impact.”
