We got a chance to play with the F1s and true enough this device is really a great midrange smartphone not only it can take great selfie pictures it also performs well it terms of speed and reliability as a daily phone.

Inside the Box

In terms of packaging, the F1s has the same style and look with the rest of the F1 series. This device is priced at Php 12,990 only, compared with the previous version the F1 Plus that has a price tag of Php 21,990.

Inside the box, you will find the following:

OPPO F1s

Protective film (already placed)

In-ear type earphones

Micro USB cable

Charger

SIM ejector tool

Documentation

Clear Case

Now that is one complete package, no need to buy an extra screen protector and protection case. But if you want you customized your F1s you can always get a custom case since there are a lot of them available online and in retail stores.

Design and build

OPPO seems to continue the tradition on using the unibody design with rounded corner in terms of design since the F1s look very similar from F1 and F1 Plus. The F1s has a bit thicker body, but still has curved edges and many times mistakenly identified as an iPhone.

The power button can be found at the right side and above it is the SIM card tray you will need the SIM ejector tool to open it. While at the left side is the volume control, at the bottom is the 3.5mm audio jack (yup it still has it), micro USB 2.0 port and speakers grills.

At the back is where the 13 MP, rear camera with  LED flash and the brand logo, while at the front is the 16 MP front facing camera, just above the 5.5-inch IPS TFT HD Display, and below is the home button that also acts as the fingerprint sensor together with the function and back capacitive buttons.

16-megapixel front facing camera with f/2.0, 1/3.1″ image sensor size

13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2, phase detection autofocus, LED flash

Overall the design and form factor of F1 looks really premium, especially the metal construction with the right position of the buttons for easy access. The home button also acts as the fingerprint scanner, most users will get used to it especially for those that have iPhone.

Display and ColorOS

OPPO F1s has a 5.5-inch HD Display (1280 by 720 pixels), with a bright and vivid colors. The brightness of the display looks really nice, and one of the cool features of Color OS is the Eye Protection display that filters out the blue light to create a soothing screen display.

Out of the Box F1 is running on Color OS v3 which is OPPO’s own custom ROM based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The default theme UI looks a lot similar to iPhone and it does not support app drawer and just like any other custom ROM, OPPO has its own Theme store where you can download free themes to personalized your F1s.

ColorOS is one of the best custom ROM for Android. It comes with simple UI, easy to read icon labels, customizable themes and it’s responsive, and we’re happy to report that it does not have bloatware apps just the essentials.

OPPO has improved the ColorOS 3.0’s user interface, it’s now more vivid and the icons look really nice. It has this attractive and light overall outlook. Like I mention it does not have an app drawer, but it does support folders to organized your favorite apps.

C0ol Lock Screen Wallpaper that is automatically downloaded and updated using Lockscreen magazine features

ColorOS comes with some cool features that can be found in the Settings. Like Quiet time, Eye protection display, Lockscreen magazine, Dirac Power Sound, Gesture & motion, Low power mode, Smart lock, Encrypt phone, and O-cloud.

For connectivity, the F1s has 4g/LTE on both SIM card which is great since you can use different telco for data connection. it also has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, with WiFi hotspot support, Bluetooth 4.0, and OTG support (need to enable this in settings).

On a regular day, the device can last up to 8 hours of use, before it needs to be charge again but if you are going to use this as your Pokemon Go device just make sure you have an extra powerbank with you for sure the battery will drain much faster.
