Seiko Epson Corporation or simply Epson is a Japanese electronics company also a global leader in the printer industry. They have this new product which was launched earlier this year that features an All-in-One Ink Tank System. The Epson L565 is the world’s first ink tank system printer with wireless connectivity, automatic document feeder, and direct fax function.
The L565 is ideal office equipment since it features low-cost printing, scanning, copying and faxing with Wi-Fi and Ethernet function. Low-cost printing because it uses high-capacity ink tanks with Micro Piezo technology and ISO print speeds of up to 9.2ppm that help produce high-quality printouts.
Design
The Epson L565 is no one of those compact type printers, but since its multi-function all-in-one printer, you are actually saving more space in your office. It measures about 48.4cm x 22.6cm x 37.7cm about the same dimension of a typical compact copier and weighs 6.2kg only.
For design, if you’ve used an Epson printer and for sure you have, you will know how this printer looks like. It has the same Epson signature look in terms of appearance with a combination of matte and glossy finish.
At the front, it has 2.2-inch LCD screen and function buttons which allow you to easily set-up the printer and can be used for operation even without a computer. Below is the collapsible paper tray that can be extended when needed and which is good so that the printed papers won’t fly-out.
While the at the back is where the paper feeding tray that can hold up to 100 sheets of paper and the connection for the LAN and telephone port. The USB port for the wired connection is at the left side while the right side is the ink tank containers.
Setup and Configuration
Setting up the Epson L565 is fairly easy, you just need to get it out of the box and placed it where it should be. It comes with everything you need to like the power adapter, UBS cable, driver CD, User Manual and Warry Card.
We do recommend to download the latest printer driver in official Epson website so that you can get new features and functions, you can download it here. But if you are using the latest Windows 10, it will automatically install the latest driver for you.
The printer can be connected via USB, LAN and WiFi configuring this is not that too complicated, using it over WiFi is also easy just connected the printer to the same network in your office and once done, it will be visible in your network once you look for a new printer, you can even print from your iPhone and Android smartphones that support wireless printing.
Usability
Printing on Epson L565 is pretty much straight forward, it has one of the lowest cost per page of 7,500 pages color print output. To get the best print-out just make sure you use the right paper like a substance 20 type of paper.
The L565 is capable of printing max draft text using A4 paper at 33 pages per minute for black and 15ppm for colored documents. Printing black or documents is fast, while the printing colors with the best print quality take time and a lot of ink. So it’s best to just use the default settings.
One of the disadvantages of having a printer is the cost of inks. But with the introduction printer with integrated ink tanks now it’s more affordable and easier to just refill the tank. With Epson L565 it offers an ultra low-cost per page for both black and colour printing. It comes with four color Epson ink bottles (cyan, yellow, magenta, black), with two extra black ink bottles included and each bottle of 70ml costs Php 295 only.
The L565 also comes with a one year or 30,000-page manufacturers warranty
Verdict
The Epson L565 Ink Tank System is an ideal printer for small and medium business since with this printer you get years of technology from Epson that for sure you will get the best output. It has scanner, copier, and even fax so it’s a great all-in-one office equipment. Connectivity is also plenty with this printer, you can even print using your smartphone via Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.
