Cherry Mobile Flare S5 is part of the Flare premium series that Cherry Mobile launched recently together with the new Flare 5 series. The new Flare S5 features a 5-inch HD Display, Octa-core MediaTek CPU with Type-C connector and fingerprint sensor.
The Cherry Mobile Flare S5 sports 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 resolution, with 1.3GHz Mediatek 6753 Octa-core CPU. In terms of design, it looks similar to Flare 5, some difference like camera location, and the Flare S5 has a fingerprint sensor that’s why it’s a bit pricey.
The Flare S5 has curved corners with a metal frame, with a similar look at some of the Samsung devices. At the back is the 16-megapixel main camera and the back cover is made of plastic and it’s removable. It supports micro and nano SIM card and microSD card that can accommodate up tp 64GB capacity.

At the front is the 5-inch HD display, and above is the 8-megapixel BSI front camera, below the display is the physical home button between the menu and back keys. The home button is also where the fingerprint scanner.

At the bottom of the Flare S5 is the USB-Type C connector for fast charging, speaker grill, and microphone. While at the top it the 3.5mm audio jack.

As we mentioned the back cover is removable and once opened you can insert the 2400mAh battery and SIM cards and microSD card.
The Flare S5 is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek 6753 Octa-core CPU with Mali T720 GPU for graphics, 3GB RAM and 16GB storage (10.80GB available). Out of the box, it’s running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the familiar Google apps and some Cherry Mobile custom apps pre-installed.

In terms of performance, well this device have enough processing power to run some good casual games such as Skyforce Reloaded and Voltes V that are great shooting game, it’s also great for your multimedia needs since it already has HD display.

In terms of photography, the Flare S5 has a 16-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel at the front for selfie pictures. One of the downsides of having a Cherry Mobile smartphone is the lack of good camera app. It uses the stock Android camera app which does not really uses the full capabilities of the camera sensors. But there is still hope, you can install good camera apps from Google Play like Open camera and Camera app for Android which are FREE.

Overall the Cherry Mobile Flare has a good design and built, sure it has a plastic body but hey for its price of only Php 5,899 this is a good smartphone considering that it comes with good 5-inch HD display, 64-bit Octa-core CPU with 3GB RAM. With the added features such as the fingerprint scanner for security and Type-C for faster charging, it’s already a good deal.
